Two-stage force multiplier tin snips are provided which have a pair of cutting blades and associated tangs, both being pivotable about a cutting axis. Each respective tang is coupled to a pair of handles by a pair of respective tang pins. The handles are pivotably attached to one another about an adjustable handle axis. The handle axis is adjustable between an upper position and a lower position to provide a mechanism for changing a force multiplier of the cutting blades. The handle axis may be a sliding axis disposed in longitudinal slots on the handles. The handle axis may also be upper and lower fixed pins that are slidable in lateral slots.

Two-stage force multiplier tin snips are provided which have a pair of cutting blades and associated tangs, both being pivotable about a cutting axis. Each respective tang is coupled to a pair of handles by a pair of respective tang pins. The handles are pivotably attached to one another about a handle axis. The tin snips provide a mechanism for changing a force multiplier of the cutting blades by selectively adjusting relative longitudinal positioning of the cutting blade axis, the handle axis or the tang pins, relative to another of the cutting blade axis, the handle pins or the tang pins.

Aspects of the disclosure include a jack stand. The stand may include one or more of: a housing, elongated support, engagement element, engagement element receiver, and a modulator. The housing may be adapted for receiving the elongated support. The elongated support may be configured for being associated with the housing, and may include one or more, e.g., a plurality of engagement element receivers. The plurality of receivers may be positioned sequentially along a length of the support and may be configured for receiving a portion an engagement element. The engagement element, therefore, may be adapted for removably engaging the engagement element receivers in sequential fashion, wherein the sequential engagement of the engagement element receivers by the engagement element causes the elongated support to move. The modulator may be associated to the engagement element and configured for modulating the engagement of the engagement element with the plurality of receivers.

A quick release vise includes a first and second jaw moveable relative to the first jaw, and a threaded shaft rotatably fixed to the second jaw. A shaft receiver is fixed relative to the first jaw and includes a boss and a boss cover that is moveable relative to the boss. The boss and the boss cover have channels which cooperatively define an at least partially threaded shaft-receiving bore. The boss cover is moveable between a first position wherein the threads of the shaft engage threads within the shaft-receiving bore, and a second position wherein the threads of the shaft are disengaged from the threads within the shaft-receiving bore.

Aspects of the disclosure include a tool. The tool may include a working portion, e.g. a blade, and a holding portion, e.g., a blade holder, wherein the blade and the blade holder are coupled in such a manner that the blade may be positioned in a plurality of configurations with respect to the blade holder. The blade and blade holder may include one or more of an engagement element and/or engagement element receiver that are configured for being coupled together in such a manner that the blade is substantially prevented from moving relative to the blade holder. The blade and/or blade holder may include a plurality of engagement elements and corresponding engagement element receivers such that the blade is capable of being moved incrementally with respect to the blade holder. Also provided are methods of using the tool as well as specialized packaging for offering the tool for sale.

Tool including a locking mechanism

A one-handed ratcheting C-clamp is provided. The C-clamp incorporates a spring loaded handle mechanically coupled to a ratcheting mechanism. The ratcheting mechanism has a plurality of gear teeth that engage the threads of a corresponding rod disposed through a hole formed in one section of the C-shaped C-clamp. The handle rotates the bidirectional ratchet such that the threaded rod is lowered or raised within the hole of the C-shaped C-clamp. A button located in the side of the handle may release the ratchet mechanism pawl to provide axial sliding engagement of the rod to a corresponding work piece. The handle and corresponding ratchet mechanism secure the rod against the work piece. Further tightening engagement of the work piece is accomplished via a lever located on a top portion of the rod.

The present invention is directed to an improved hand tool for using one hand to grasp a workpiece between a first and a second jaw of the hand tool and adjust the force applied to the workpiece. The hand tool includes a first arm and a second arm, the second arm operably linked to the first arm so as to cause relative motion of the first and second jaws upon motion of the arms. The hand tool further includes a control arm having a first end pivotably linked to the first arm and a second end pivotably linked to the second arm at a moveable pivot location. Movement of a force adjustor located on the second arm in a first direction moves the moveable pivot location so as to increase the level of force required on the second arm to move the control arm into an overcenter lock position.

A self-adjusting pliers is operable to grasp a workpiece between an upper jaw and a lower jaw. The pliers includes an upper arm having a first end and a second end, with the upper jaw at the first end. A jaw arm has a first end and a second end. The second end of the jaw arm is pivotably connected to the upper arm at a main pivot adjacent to the second end of the upper arm, so that the first end of the jaw arm is movable in a circular arc relative to the main pivot. The lower jaw is at the first end of the jaw arm in movable facing relation to the upper jaw so that the workpiece may be grasped between the upper jaw and the lower jaw. An engagement mechanism releasably engages the jaw arm to the upper arm at an engagement position responsive to a movement of the jaw arm relative to the upper arm and responsive to a size of the workpiece grasped between the upper jaw and the lower jaw, to thereby prevent rotation of the jaw arm relative to the upper arm.

A hand tool such as a knife or a combination tool includes multiple blades, each independently rotatable on a common axle between a closed position within a handle of the tool and an open position extending from the handle. Each blade is positively but releasably locked into its open position. Those blades which remain closed are biased toward the closed position when the opened blade is locked into position and also as it is opened and closed. A single locking, releasing, and biasing mechanism serves all of the blades in one handle.
