An example device includes an array of sensor modules. A sensor module includes a body to be positioned in alignment with a planar target, a light source coupled to the body to emit light to the planar target along a source optical path, and a plurality of light sensors coupled to the body. Each light sensor is to sense a different wavelength of light received from the planar target along a sensor optical path. The sensor optical path is different from the source optical path. The bodies of the array of sensor modules are arranged in a planar tiling pattern with respect to a longitudinal axis of the planar target.

Modular and tiled optical sensors

A nucleic acid detection device includes a microfluidic opening and a sensor stack. The sensor stack includes an electrochemical electrode and a photodetector. The electrochemical electrode is formed of a conductive material that is transparent to a fluorescent emission, the electrochemical electrode including a first side and an opposite second side, wherein the first side is exposed to the microfluidic opening. The photodetector is positioned relative to the second side of the electrochemical electrode to optically receive the fluorescent emission when passed through the electrochemical electrode.

In some examples, a print cartridge includes a monolithic molding, and a printhead die embedded into a molding. The printhead die has a front surface exposed outside the molding to dispense fluid drops through nozzles and an opposing back surface covered by the molding except at a channel in the molding through which fluid is to pass directly to the back surface. The printhead die also has a nozzle health sensor molded into the molding to detect defective nozzles in the printhead die.

In an implementation, a printhead includes a printhead die molded into a molding. The die has a front surface exposed outside the molding to dispense fluid drops through nozzles and an opposing back surface covered by the molding except at a channel in the molding through which fluid may pass directly to the back surface. The die also has a nozzle health sensor molded into the molding to detect defective nozzles in the printhead die.

A color sensor array includes a plurality of sensors. Each of the plurality of sensors has a width dimension and a length dimension that is elongated with respect to the width dimension. The length dimensions of the sensors are substantially equal to one another and parallel to an illumination plane. Each of the plurality of sensors includes a face defined by opposing first and second elongated sides and opposing first and second non-elongated sides. The first non-elongated sides of the plurality of sensors are aligned with one another along an axis that is substantially perpendicular to the illumination plane.

In one example, a method for making diagonal openings in photodefinable glass includes exposing part of a body of photodefinable glass to a beam of light oriented diagonally to a surface of the body at an angle of 5&#xb0; or greater measured with respect to a normal to the surface of the body and removing some or all of the part of the body exposed to the light beam to form a diagonal opening in the body.

In one example, a drop detector includes a light source for illuminating drops passing through a drop zone, multiple light detectors near the light source for detecting light scattered off drops passing through the drop zone, and multiple lenses each configured to focus light from the drop zone on one of the light detectors. In one example, each light detector is arranged in the same plane with all of the other light detectors. In one example, the lenses are configured to focus light from two different spaces in the drop zone on different detectors or groups of detectors. In one example, the lenses are configured to focus light from a single space in the drop zone on multiple detectors.

An optical system includes a lens, a pupil relay, and an aperture stop positioned at a focal point of the lens between the lens and the pupil relay. The lens is configured to collect a plurality of light bundles. Each light bundle emanates from a field point of an object plane and has a center ray substantially parallel to an optical axis of the lens. The lens is configured to direct the center ray of each light bundle through the aperture stop and onto the pupil relay. The pupil relay is configured to image a plane of the aperture stop onto a sensor array.

A color measurement device includes a light pipe and a light source. The light pipe is oriented length-wise towards a color sample surface along a first axis that is non-perpendicular to the surface. A color sample is positioned on the surface. The light pipe has a near opening, a far opening, and a face at the far opening. The near opening is closer to the color sample than the far opening. The light source is positioned near the far opening of the light pipe, and is to output light along a second axis and into the light pipe at the far opening. The light reflects off the surface after exiting the light pipe at the near opening. The second axis is non-perpendicular to the face of the light pipe at the far opening. The light non-uniformly illuminates the color sample after exiting the light pipe at the near opening.

A color sensing apparatus includes an optical system that produces a spatially uniform light beam independent of the use of a diffusion chamber, and a color sensor that senses reflected light of a reflection of the spatially uniform light beam, wherein the optical system includes a light integrator with a tapered inlet surface and a lens secured to an exit plane thereof.

One aspect is a light source assembly in a drop detection arrangement. The light source assembly includes a light source and a gradient-index lens array to at least partially collimate light from the light source and to project a collimated light beam into the drop detection arrangement in a direction transverse to a drop direction of droplets in the drop detection arrangement. The light source assembly produces the light beam such that it has a beam width in a direction transverse to the drop direction that is larger than a beam height in the drop direction.

A color detector includes a light source, a first filter, and a first photodetector. The light source generates light within a spectrum of wavelengths. The first filter is in optical communication with the light source and is configured to pass light within a first predetermined spectrum of wavelengths. The first photodetector is in optical communication with the first filter and is configured to output a first color signal if light passes through the first filter. The photodetector has an area configured to equalize the first color signal and maximize a signal-to-noise ratio of the first color signal.
