Provided herein are methods of treating a patient comprising providing a medical apparatus comprising an external system and an implantable system, implanting the implantable system, and delivering at least one of power or data to the implantable system with the external system. The external system comprises: at least one external antenna configured to transmit a first transmission signal to the implantable system; an external transmitter configured to drive the at least one external antenna; an external power supply; and an external controller. The implantable system comprises: at least one implantable antenna configured to receive the first transmission signal from the first external device; an implantable receiver; at least one implantable functional element configured to interface with the patient; an implantable controller; an implantable energy storage assembly; and an implantable housing surrounding at least the implantable controller and the implantable receiver. Medical apparatus are also provided.

Systems and methods for peel-off detection for lower power electronics are disclosed. In one embodiment, a device includes: a housing; sensor electronics disposed within the housing; an electrode positioned to receive a charge and output a control signal upon removal of a material positioned proximate to the electrode; an electronic switch configured to control an electrical connection between a power supply and the sensor electronics; and an amplifier electrically coupled to the electrode and configured to receive the control signal from the electrode and output an amplified signal to change a state of the electronic switch based on the control signal.

A stimulation system for a patient is provided. The system comprises: at least one implantable device comprising at least one implantable antenna; and an external device comprising at least one external antenna, wherein the at least one external antenna transfers power to the at least one implantable antenna. A plunger head for a fluid injection device includes a transducer disposed in the plunger head to measure a compressive force when applied to the plunger head. The plunger head also includes a power source and a microcontroller disposed in the plunger head. These devices include a plurality of injectors configured to drive needles into the skin and draw samples of blood into the device. These devices additionally include a plurality of sensors which can detect a target analyte in the blood samples received by the device. These devices further include a user interface, which may prompt the user to self-administer a dose of a substance, or accept a user input which could affect or otherwise influence the activation of the device (i.e., the firing of needles to draw blood samples into the device and detect an analyte). These devices can be wearable and configured to automatically access blood from skin, for example, to access blood from the skin at one or more points in time after the user has self-administered a dose of a substance.

A plunger head for a medication injection device includes a first ultrasonic transducer coupled to emit ultrasonic signals, where the first ultrasonic transducer is oriented within the plunger head to send the ultrasonic signals along a length of a barrel of the medication injection device when the plunger head is disposed in the barrel. A second ultrasonic transducer is disposed within the plunger head and oriented to receive reflections of the ultrasonic signals. A controller is disposed in the plunger head and coupled to the first ultrasonic transducer and the second ultrasonic transducer. The controller includes logic that when executed by the controller causes the controller to perform operations including instructing the first ultrasonic transducer to emit the ultrasonic signals.

In some examples, a fluid delivery device is described. The fluid deliver device includes a housing; a reservoir disposed within the housing, the fluid reservoir defining a fluid outlet at a first end of the fluid reservoir; a plunger assembly disposed within the fluid reservoir, the plunger assembly including a friction clutch; and a seal engaged with an interior surface of the fluid reservoir to prevent movement of a material within the fluid reservoir past the seal; and a motive element in communication with a first end of the plunger assembly and configured to apply a motive force on the first end of the plunger assembly towards the first end of the fluid reservoir, wherein the friction clutch is configured to apply a frictional force to the interior surface of the fluid reservoir to resist the motive force, and wherein operation of the friction clutch enables motive force to overcome the frictional force to allow the plunger assembly to translate towards the first end of the fluid reservoir.

The present disclosure relates to a rigid sensor stopper adapted for use in a drug delivery device. In one implementation, a rigid sensor stopper may include a transducer, a power source, a rigid molding or casing, and at least one elastomeric seal. The molding may be formed from overmolding or insert molding, and the casing may be formed from injection molding, machining, or forged casing. The at least one elastomeric seal may include at least two o-rings.

Rigid sensor stopper for use in drug delivery devices

A device may include a housing, a light-permeable electrode, a computing device, and a display or other light-processing element. The display or other light-processing element may be positioned at least partly within the housing. The device components may be arranged to permit passage of light through the light-permeable electrode and relative to the light-processing element. The computing device may utilize electrical activity signal information from the light-permeable electrode to determine electrocardiogram (ECG) information or other information about the body of a user of the device. For example, the computing device may cause such ECG information to be projected through the light-permeable electrode by the display or other light-processing device and/or obtain additional information based on light received through the light-permeable electrode by the display or other light-processing device.
