A system having a removable protective enclosure for an electronic component. The protective enclosure may have a base and a circuit board that may be captured by the base without use of a tool or a separate fastener. A memory module may be disposed on the circuit board. The protective enclosure may be adapted to be mechanically and electrically coupleable to an enclosure.

System for protecting electronic components

A processor-based device having a plurality of memory cartridges secured within a chassis by a lever system. The processor-based device comprises an indication system to indicate memory system operating conditions. Each memory cartridge has a protective assembly to protect memory elements within the memory cartridge when the memory cartridge is removed from the processor-based device. The processor-based device is operable such that at least one memory cartridge may be removed from the processor-based device without affecting operation of the processor-based device.

Removable memory cartridge system for use with a server or other processor-based device

A lever system deploys a pinion gear that engages a pinion gear receiving portion. A handle is attached to the pinion gear to rotate the pinion gear between a retain position and a release position. The pinion gear receiving portion is attached to a first object and the pinion gear is pivotably mounted to a second object that may be moved with respect to the first object. The design of the pinion gear receiving portion and the pinion gear ensure linear travel of the second object as the pinion gear is rotated between the retain position and the release position. Additionally, the pinion gear and the receiving portion include contours that prevent relative linear motion in all directions.

Lever system for moving a component within a chassis

A protective assembly for electronic components. The protective assembly has a base and a first printed circuit board secured to the base. An electronic component is disposed on the printed circuit board and protected by a rigid member that is also secured to the base. The protective assembly is designed to be mechanically and electrically coupleable to a computer-based system.

An apparatus is provided for coupling a printed circuit board within a printed circuit board cage. The apparatus includes a baseplate and a latch. The baseplate is mounted to the printed circuit board. The latch is rotatably coupled to the baseplate. The latch includes a pivoting portion, a shaft, and a swell nut. The pivoting portion includes an ejector extending from an end of the pivoting portion. The ejector is engageable with the printed circuit board cage. The shaft is coupled to the pivoting portion. The swell nut is coupled to the shaft and engageable with the printed circuit board cage.

Swell-latch printed circuit board engagement mechanism

An apparatus is provided for coupling a printed circuit board within a printed circuit board cage. The apparatus includes a baseplate and a latch. The baseplate is mounted to the printed circuit board. The latch is rotably coupled to the baseplate. The latch includes a pivoting portion, a shaft, and a swell nut. The pivoting portion includes an ejector extending from an end of the pivoting portion. The ejector is engageable with the printed circuit board cage. The shaft is coupled to the pivoting portion. The swell nut is coupled to the shaft and engageable with the printed circuit board cage.

Swell-latch printed circuit board latching and ejecting mechanism

An apparatus is provided for coupling a printed circuit board within a printed circuit board cage. The apparatus includes a first portion coupled to the printed circuit board cage. A second portion is rotatably coupled to the printed circuit board, and includes a cam surface formed on a first end portion thereof. The cam surface is engageable with an interior surface of a bore in the first portion to urge the second portion and the printed circuit board from a first position to a second position. The second portion also includes a latch formed on a second end portion thereof. The latch is engageable with a corresponding latch on the printed circuit board in response to the second portion being located in the second position.

Printed circuit board latching mechanism

An enhanced accessibility router includes an outer housing with a side wall opening through which a support tray man be inserted into the housing interior and removed therefrom. A variety of printed circuit boards, including a system I/O board, a CPU card, and various option cards are mounted on the tray for movement therewith. At the back end of the support tray is a specially designed latch and card support member which functions to releasably hold the tray in an outwardly withdrawn position thereof and to receive and support edge portions of the CPU card and option cards. The CPU card is captively retained on the tray by an elongated card retaining member that may be quickly and easily installed on and removed from the tray without tools. A front housing wall has an opening disposed therein and facing a PCMCIA card support structure mounted on the inner end of the support tray. When the tray is fully inserted into the housing interior the PCMCIA card support structure enters the front housing wall opening and is positioned to receive a PCMCIA card inserted rearwardly therethrough. Accordingly, access to the PCMCIA card support structure is provided through the front side of the housing when the tray is fully inserted, and from the rear side of the housing when the tray is pulled outwardly from the housing.
