In a magnetic resonance method and apparatus for determining a characteristic of an organ, a magnetic resonance sequence is executed in order to acquire temporally resolved magnetic resonance data pertaining to the organ. The magnetic resonance sequence includes at least one tagging module, which generates a sub-visual tag of the magnetic resonance data. The characteristic of the organ is determined in a processor using the sub-visual tag.

In a method and a magnetic resonance tomography system, at least two temporally separate original data sets are acquired with one phase measurement value being acquired for each pixel in each original image data set. An optimization technique for the shared calculation of corrected phase values for the pixels in the data sets is implemented in a computer, wherein the corrected phase values of the pixels in a first of the data sets is in each case dependent at least on the phase measured value of the pixel at the same location in a second of the data sets which is recorded beforehand or afterwards, and the corrected phase values of the pixels in the second data set are in each case dependent at least on the phase measured value of the pixel at the same place in the first data set. Corrected image data sets are generated from the corrected phase values.

A method, system, and apparatus of determining optimal viewing planes for cardiac image acquisition, wherein the method includes acquiring a set of sagittal, axial, and coronal images of a heart, where the axial and coronal images intersect with the sagittal image orthogonally, and where the heart has a natural axis and a left ventricle ('LV') with a bloodpool, a bloodpool border, and an apex. The invention provides a method of measuring characteristics of an organ or part thereof from multiple images of the organ or part thereof, the method comprising the steps of defining the spatial position of at least two of the images; defining a reference model of the organ or part thereof scaled according to the distance between reference markers on the images; defining one or more boundary guide points associated with one or more images for which the spatial positions have been defined; converting the guide points to three-dimensional coordinates; defining an estimate model by fitting the reference model to the guide points; and calculating the characteristics from the estimate model. The invention also provides a system and a computer program for measuring characteristics of an organ or part thereof of a subject from multiple images of the subject's organ or part thereof.

A method and system for spatio-temporal (4D) modeling of an object includes sampling the 4-D model at one point in time to create a 3-D model. This 3-D model is then fit based on user-supplied guide points, image forces (e.g., image edges) and prior shape models. Once the 3-D model fit is completed the full 4-D shape model is updated. Cardiac images can be spatio-temporally modeled to determine LV conditions.
