Exemplary embodiments are disclosed of variable frequency drive (VFD) controllers with engine fail-over and systems including the same. In exemplary embodiments, a system includes a controller configured to be operable for controlling a VFD that drives a motor (e.g., a three-phase AC motor, etc.), which, in turn, drives (e.g., mechanically spins, etc.) a first pump. The same controller is also configured to be operable for controlling an engine (e.g., a diesel engine, etc.), which, in turn, drives (e.g., mechanically spins, etc.) a second pump. The system is configured to failover from the motor to the engine in response to a VFD communications failure.

The present disclosure generally relates to automatic smart jump start battery packs (broadly, reserve power supply systems) for machinery. In exemplary embodiments, a battery pack is configured (e.g., includes a microcontroller, etc.) to automatically detect when machinery (e.g., a water pumping system, etc.) needs a jump start from the battery pack. For example, a microcontroller (e.g., broadly, a controller, etc.) within the battery pack may be configured to determine when the machinery's main battery does not have a sufficient charge to operate an electric starter motor of the machinery, e.g., when a main battery signal from a voltage sensor falls below a predetermined level, etc.

A reserve power supply system for providing a supplemental source of electrical power to a main power source. The system includes a backup battery and a switch that can be controlled to couple the backup battery to the main power source when reserve power is needed. The system also includes a sensor to detect when the backup battery should be engaged and a system control unit.

The present disclosure generally relates to key fobs and menu access authorization for control panels via pairing with user devices. In exemplary embodiments, a method generally includes pairing a user device (e.g., smartphone, Bluetooth-enabled device, etc.) to a control panel (e.g., engine control panel, etc.) such that the user device is operable as or similar to a key fob for the control panel. After the initial pairing and entry of the user's menu access level PIN into the control panel, the control panel will thereafter automatically power up or wake up, pair with the user device, and grant menu access level rights based on the previously entered user's menu access level PIN when the user device is within range of the control panel and/or the user device manually connects with the control panel.

The present disclosure generally relates to dynamic power curve throttling. In an exemplary embodiment, a computer-implemented method for enabling dynamic throttling of an engine includes graphically displaying a graph of a linear throttle line for the engine including an idle speed in revolutions per minute (RPM) and one or more operating speeds in revolutions per minute; using a graphical user interface to alter the linear throttling line into a non-linear dynamic throttling line; and generating a table based on the non-linear dynamic throttling line, the table including dynamic throttle increments that vary based on RPM and that are usable by a controller for dynamic throttling of the engine.

Techniques are disclosed for providing information describing a fault code for an object. A display device having an electronic display detects a fault occurrence event in the object. The display device determines a fault code indicative of the fault occurrence event and one or more parameters associated with the fault code. The display device generates a machine-readable code representing the fault code and the one or more parameters.

Methods, systems, and products bridge wireless data transmissions with power-line communications. Should a failure occur in alternating current power, a backup battery maintains the power-line communications. Direct current battery power is used to power a wireless transceiver, thus maintaining both wireless data transmissions and communication during power failures.

A vehicle mount computer having a configurable behavior controlled by a vehicle's ignition switch. A user can configure the computer to perform an action, switch modes, or execute a software application in response to the ignition switch being pressed or the position of the ignition switch being adjusted. For example, the computer can be configured to switch to a standby mode or hibernation mode, shutdown, prompt the user to select an action, or do nothing in response to the ignition switch being placed in an off position. The ignition switch can be electrically coupled to an input of the computer so that the computer's operating system or another application can monitor the status of the ignition switch. The operating system or application can cause the computer to perform the configured response upon detecting a change in the ignition switch's position or an actuation of the ignition switch.

A ball retrieving apparatus is formed with a tubular storage chamber on which is mounted a gateway mechanism at the lower end thereof. The gateway mechanism is formed of a cylindrical housing having a passageway therethrough for alignment with the tubular storage chamber engaged therewith. The housing incorporates a ring of spring-loaded detent balls that are biased to project into the passageway to restrict the effective diameter thereof. Balls being retrieved are pressed into the housing to retract the detent balls against the biasing force until the ball has passed the ring of detent balls. The biasing force on the detent balls will retain the collected balls within the tubular storage chamber until the chamber is emptied. The ball retrieving apparatus can be sized to receive any type of sports activity ball.
