A turbine blade has an attachment root and an airfoil. A cooling passageway system has a plurality of trunks extending from respective inlets along the root inner diameter end from a leading trunk near a first axial end to a trailing trunk near a second axial end; and a plurality of outlets along the airfoil including trailing edge outlets fed by the trailing trunk. Viewed normal to a root end-to-end centerplane: the trailing trunk has a turn passing forward and then rearward; an outside of the turn protrudes forward; and the outside of the turn has a tighter curvature than an inside of the turn.

Airfoils for gas turbine engines are described. The airfoils include an airfoil body extending between a platform and a tip, the airfoil body having a leading edge, a trailing edge, a pressure side, and a suction side, a serpentine cavity formed within the airfoil body and having an up-pass serpentine cavity, a down-pass serpentine cavity, and a trailing edge cavity, and a dead-end tip flag cavity extending in a direction between the leading edge and the trailing edge, the dead-end tip flag cavity arrange between the serpentine cavity and the tip, wherein the dead-end tip flag cavity ends at a dead-end wall located at a position between the leading edge and the trailing edge of the airfoil body.

A gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a rotor and a vane spaced axially from the rotor, and a blade outer air seal spaced radially from the rotor. At least one of the rotor and the vane includes an airfoil section extending from a platform. At least one of the airfoil section, the platform and the blade outer air seal includes a first cavity extending in a first direction, the first cavity defining a reference plane along a parting line formed by a casting die, and a plurality of trip strips including a first set of trip strips distributed in the first direction along a surface of the first cavity and on a first side of the reference plane, each of the plurality of trip strips defining a respective groove axis extending longitudinally between a first end and an opposed, second end of a respective one the plurality of trip strips, and the groove axes being oriented with respect to a pull direction of the casting die. A casting core and method for fabricating a gas turbine engine component is also disclosed.

A turbine blade for a gas turbine engine having a plurality of cooling holes defined therein, the plurality of cooling holes are located in an airfoil of the turbine blade according to the coordinates of Table 1.

A turbine airfoil includes a body that has inner and outer platforms and an airfoil section that extends between the inner and outer platforms. There are film cooling holes that define external breakout points from the body. The external breakout points are located in accordance with Cartesian coordinates of at least points 222 through 256 set forth in Table 1 herein.

A casting core may comprise a tip flag material having a forward cavity and a first spear cavity disposed aft of the forward cavity. A trailing edge discharge material may be separated from the tip flag material and include a first row of cavities. The first row of cavities may comprise a first racetrack cavity. A second row of cavities may be disposed aft of the first row of cavities and include a second racetrack cavity. A third row of cavities may be disposed aft of the second row of cavities and include a circular cavity. A fourth row of cavities may be disposed aft of the third row of cavities and include a second spear cavity.

A vane according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a platform extending from an edge face and between spaced apart lateral faces and an airfoil extending outwardly from the platform. The platform includes at least one ejection port in the edge face and at least one passage connected to the at least one ejection port. A method of cooling a component is also disclosed.

A turbine vane for a gas turbine engine having a plurality of cooling holes defined therein, at least some of the plurality of cooling holes being located on a leading edge of an airfoil of the turbine vane and in fluid communication with an internal cavity of the turbine vane; and a baffle insert located in the internal cavity, the baffle insert having a plurality of holes formed therein at least some of the plurality of holes of the baffle insert corresponding to the at least some of the plurality of cooling holes located in the leading edge of the turbine vane, the baffle insert being formed from a flat sheet of metal wherein the plurality of holes of the baffle insert are formed in the flat sheet of metal prior to the baffle insert being formed from the flat sheet of metal, the plurality of holes of the baffle insert being formed in the flat sheet of metal according to the coordinates of Table 1.

A component for a gas turbine engine includes an exterior surface that provides pressure and suction sides. A cooling passage in the component includes a serpentine passageway that has first and second passes respectively configured to provide fluid flow in opposite directions from one another. The first pass includes first and second portions nested relative to one another and overlapping in a thickness direction. The first and second portions are adjacent to one another by sharing a common wall. The first portion is provided on the suction side. The second portion is provided on the pressure side.

A casting core and/or an airfoil may comprise a tip flag cavity having a forward pedestal and a first spear pedestal disposed aft of the forward pedestal. A trailing edge discharge cavity may be separated from the tip flag cavity and include a first row of pedestals. The first row of pedestals may comprise a first racetrack pedestal. A second row of pedestals may be disposed aft of the first row of pedestals and include a second racetrack pedestal. A third row of pedestals may be disposed aft of the second row of pedestals and include a circular pedestal. A fourth row of pedestals may be disposed aft of the third row of pedestals and include a second spear pedestal.

An airfoil of a gas turbine engine is provided including a leading edge extending in a radial direction, a tip extending in an axial direction from the leading edge, a first rib extending radially within the airfoil, the leading edge and the first rib defining a leading edge cavity within the airfoil, a second rib, the second rib and the first rib defining a serpentine cavity therein, a third rib extending axially within the tip, a flag tip cavity defined by the third rib, the leading edge, and the tip, the leading edge cavity fluidly connected to the flag tip cavity, and a bypass aperture formed between the first rib and the third rib, the bypass aperture configured to fluidly connect the serpentine cavity with the flag tip cavity.

A vane according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a platform extending from an edge face and between spaced apart lateral faces and an airfoil extending outwardly from the platform. A casting core for an airfoil according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a first portion extending in a first direction and corresponding to a first cavity of an airfoil. The first portion defines a reference plane along a parting line formed by a casting die. The first portion defines a plurality of grooves corresponding to a plurality of trip strips of the airfoil. Each of the plurality of grooves defines a respective groove axis, and the plurality of grooves are distributed in the first direction along a first side of the reference plane such that one or more of the groove axes are oriented with respect to a pull direction of the casting die. A method for fabricating a gas turbine engine component is also disclosed.
