There are provided fiber optic local convergence points ('LCPs') adapted for use with multiple dwelling units (“MDUs”) that facilitate relatively easy installation and/or optical connectivity to a relatively large number of subscribers. The LCP includes a housing mounted to a surface, such as a wall, and a cable assembly with a connector end to be optically connected to a distribution cable and a splitter end to be located within the housing. The splitter end includes at least one splitter and a plurality of subscriber receptacles to which subscriber cables may be optically connected. The splitter end of the cable assembly of the LCP may also include a splice tray assembly and/or a fiber optic routing guide. Furthermore, a fiber distribution terminal (“FDT”) may be provided along the subscriber cable to facilitate installation of the fiber optic network within the MDU.

Fiber optic local convergence points for multiple dwelling units

There are provided fiber optic local convergence points ('LCPs') adapted for use with multiple dwelling units ('MDUs') that facilitate relatively easy installation and/or optical connectivity to a relatively large number of subscribers. The LCP includes a housing mounted to a surface, such as a wall, and a cable assembly with a connector end to be optically connected to a distribution cable and a splitter end to be located within the housing. The splitter end includes at least one splitter and a plurality of subscriber receptacles to which subscriber cables may be optically connected. The splitter end of the cable assembly of the LCP may also include a splice tray assembly and/or a fiber optic routing guide. Furthermore, a fiber distribution terminal (&#x201c;FDT&#x201d;) may be provided along the subscriber cable to facilitate installation of the fiber optic network within the MDU.

A secure cable housing system for use within a secure fiber optic communications network is provided. The secure cable housing system includes a non-secure cable box and a secure equipment box. The secure network equipment box includes a secure interior cavity, and the non-secure cable box is smaller than the secure interior cavity such that the non-secure cable box fits within the secure interior cavity. The secure network equipment box allows the optical cable to be received into the secure interior cavity without disconnecting the fiber optic cable from the non-secure box.

Secure cable housing system for optical communication network

A fiber optic apparatus including a retainer assembly having at least one retainer configured to toollessly, releasably retain a fiber body and or one or more optical fibers is disclosed. An attachment feature may toollessly, removably attach the retainer assembly to a mounting surface. The at least one retainer is configured to releasably retain the fiber body via mounting bosses on the fiber body. A stacking feature may be configured to removably attach a second retainer assembly to the retainer assembly. The at least one retainer may be configured to releasably retain the one or more optical fibers to strain relief the one of more optical fibers. The mounting surface may be fiber optic equipment. The fiber optic equipment may be a shelf mounted to a chassis in a fiber optic equipment rack.

Fiber body holder and strain relief device

Fiber optic housings configured to accommodate fiber optic modules/cassettes and fiber optic panels are disclosed. In one embodiment, a fiber optic apparatus is provided and comprised of a fiber optic housing and one or more removable panel clips. Each of the one or more removable panel clips includes at least one receptacle configured to receive an insert of a fiber optic panel to support the fiber optic panel in the fiber optic housing. In another embodiment, a fiber optic shelf configured to be supported in a fiber optic housing is provided. The fiber optic shelf comprises a mounting surface and one or more removable panel clips attached to the mounting surface that each includes at least one receptacle configured to receive an insert of a fiber optic panel to support the fiber optic panel in the mounting surface. Related components and methods are also disclosed.

Fiber optic housings configured to accommodate fiber optic modules/cassettes and fiber optic panels, and related components and methods

Removable strain relief brackets for securing fiber optic cables and/or optical fiber to fiber optic equipment, and related assemblies and methods are disclosed. The removable strain relief brackets may be employed to secure fiber optic cable and/or optical fibers routed to fiber optic equipment. The removable strain relief brackets may also be employed to provide strain relief for fiber optic cable and/or optical fibers routed and secure to fiber optic equipment. Fiber optic cable discussed herein includes optical fiber whether disposed in a common cable jacket or disposed freely of each other outside a cable jacket.

Removable strain relief brackets for securing fiber optic cables and/or optical fibers to fiber optic equipment, and related assemblies and methods

A support shelf for fiber optic hardware is disclosed. Generally, the support shelf includes a plurality of component mounting features that permits releasably mounting of fiber optic hardware at a plurality of locations on the support shelf. The component mounting features are generally openings in a base of the support shelf and may be slots in the base as well. With this improved configuration, fiber optic hardware such as adapter panels can be mounted at a variety of locations on the support shelf ranging from flush with a front edge of the support shelf to a recessed mounting, which is a distance from the front edge.

Movable adapter panel

A rotatable routing guide assembly for fiber optic cables routed in a fiber optic equipment shelf is disclosed. The assembly comprises a guide portion, an attachment feature and a keyed receiver. The guide portion has a bottom, a top, a deformable first wall, a deformable second wall and a third wall forming a plurality of segments, and is configured to receive fiber optic cables of different sizes by different ones of the plurality of segments. The attachment feature removably attaches the guide portion to the shelf. The attachment feature has a first tab forming a first notch with the guide portion, and a second tab forming a second notch with the guide portion. The keyed receiver is located in the shelf and has a lip extending partially around an interior edge. The lip is received in at least one of the first notch and the second notch and friction fit between at least one of the first tab and the second tab and the guide portion.

Rotatable routing guide and assembly

A fiber optic strain relief device is provided. The device has a base that attaches to a piece of equipment and/or hardware. A length of strap positions in the base and forms a loop. The loop is adapted to at least partially encircle a portion of a cable positioned at the base. A strap tightener incrementally shortens the length of the strap, reducing the loop and tightening the strap around the cable. The strap tightener may be a ratchet assembly comprising an actuator, a ratchet cap, a pin, a ratchet lock and a release. The length of strap inserts into a slot in the pin. The ratchet assembly operates to tighten the length of strap encircling the portion of the cable by incrementally rotating the pin. The release allows the strap to be loosened around the fiber optic cable.

Strain relief device and method for fiber optic cables

There is provided splice trays and splice assemblies that provide convenient access to optical fiber slack within a relatively small area or volume. Some splice trays are adapted for use with microstructured optical fibers to further reduce the size of the splice tray or splice assembly. Some splice trays provide fiber routing devices on the cover of the splice tray. The fiber routing device may be positioned on an inside surface of the cover and/or on an outside surface of the cover. The splice trays and/or splice assemblies may be used with or as fiber drop terminals used within multiple dwelling units.

Fiber optic splice trays

A telecommunications housing includes a plurality of outer walls defining a housing interior volume and an exit. A plurality of adapters is disposed on an interior panel for connection to connectors of fiber optic cables. At least one radius guide is mounted in the interior volume and has a cable guide portion configured to receive portions of the fiber optic cables and guide the fiber optic cables toward the exit without violating a predetermined minimum fiber optic bend radius. An external guide member may also be located on the outside the housing adjacent the exit. The external guide member has a cable guide portion configured to receive portions of the fiber optic cables and guide the fiber optic cables away from the exit without violating a predetermined minimum fiber optic bend radius.

Telecommunications housing with optical fiber management

There are provided fiber optic local convergence points ('LCPs') adapted for use with multiple dwelling units ('MDUs') that facilitate relatively easy installation and/or optical connectivity to a relatively large number of subscribers. The LCP includes a housing comprising an access cover for separating the subscriber portion from the provider portions. A splitter module of the LCP may be joined to the interior side of the access cover or may be joined to the housing opposite the access cover. The LCP may also include a splice tray assembly and/or an input receptacle to facilitate convenient installation of the provider cable. The LCP further comprises a plurality of receptacles for selective optical connection of a plurality of subscriber drop fibers/cables.

There is provided a fiber optic housing assembly that includes a fiber optic interconnection portion and/or a splice portion. To provide the technician convenient access to the interconnection portion and/or the splice portion, the slidable shelf portion includes a pivotable portion that allows the interconnection portion and/or splice portion to be moved upwards or downwards, such as by pivoting about an axis. Therefore, the technician can preferably manipulate the fiber optic cables and/or connectors at an upper portion of the equipment rack without using a step ladder or similar device and at the lower portion of the equipment rack with greater comfort. The pivotable portion includes locks, latches, pins, and/or the like to prevent unintentional movement of the pivotable portion relative to the shelf portion and/or exterior portion of the housing assembly.

Fiber optic housing assembly for fiber optic connections comprising pivotable portion

Improved splitter assemblies are described that can accept multiple incoming POTS lines and split each. In the preferred embodiments described herein, each of the incoming POTS lines is split into a voice line and a data line. The exemplary splitter assemblies described herein provide a card retainer that holds a plurality of POTS splitter cards. The splitter assemblies provide a hinged faceplate that retains a plurality of tool-less IDCs to form a panel to which electrical connections can be easily made in order to attach the incoming POTS lines and outgoing voice and data lines. In one preferred embodiment, a protective housing encloses the card retainer to provide a substantially weather-resistant enclosure for the card retainer. This housing is shaped and sized to be easily mounted in or adjacent to an existing building entrance terminal. The card retainer within has a number of retainer slots for splitter cards. Vents are disposed between the slots so that the cards can receive ventilation. The inside cover of the protective housing retains a test probe assembly that allows the connections with individual tool-less IDCs to be tested for integrity. A second splitter assembly is described wherein the card retainer is affixed directly to the backside of the outer panel of a building entrance terminal, particularly one that is located indoors or protected from the elements.
