A method for controlling torque of an air conditioner compressor is disclosed. In one example, the air conditioner compressor is a variable displacement compressor. The method may provide smooth transitions between different air conditioner compressor torques.

Method for operating a vehicle climate control system

A method for controlling an air conditioner compressor of a vehicle is disclosed. The method includes adjusting a displacement command in response to an error between an expected air conditioner evaporator temperature and a measured or inferred air conditioner evaporator temperature, the displacement command is further adjusted via adding a value to the displacement command based on desired air conditioner evaporator temperature, the value determined apart from the error between the expected air conditioner evaporator temperature and the measured or inferred air conditioner evaporator temperature.

A system described is for providing improved cabin heating. The system may include a vehicle cabin heating system having a first and second heating system receiving coolant flow from the engine; and a control system for operating the engine at a first engine idle speed upon entering idle speed control operation from previous drive operation, maintaining said first idle speed for a duration, and then increasing engine speed to increase coolant flow to the second heating system during cold ambient conditions when the second heater system is in operation.

Cabin heating control system

A method is disclosed for controlling engine output in a vehicle having a hydraulic power steering system. The method may include, during an idle condition where an engine speed is set to an idle speed, adjusting engine output based on a learned absolute steering wheel angle to compensate for changes in engine load caused by operation of the hydraulic power steering system. The learned absolute steering wheel angle may be based on a steering wheel angle relative to a steering wheel position at vehicle startup and operating conditions from previous vehicle operation before the vehicle startup.
