A current balance circuit for a power management device having a first current channel and a second current channel, having: a first current sense circuit configured to detect a current flowing through the first current channel, and to provide a first current sense signal indicative of the current flowing through the first current channel; wherein the current balance circuit draws current from the second current channel to the first current channel based on the first current sense signal.

Current balance circuit and the method thereof

A method for driving an LED lighting device includes receiving an input voltage from a battery unit and converting the input voltage into a driving current to drive the LED lighting device. The method further includes detecting whether the battery unit is in a low battery state. When the low battery state of the battery unit is detected, the driving current is reduced.

Methods for driving an LED lighting device and circuits thereof

Insulating ribs are formed into one or more portions of a housing that encloses circuitry of an electrical device. Components mounted on a board are separated according to whether they are related to a primary side of a power transformer or a secondary side. Primary related components are typically mounted on the primary side of an isolation slot formed into a circuit board and components related to the secondary are mounted on the other side. The insulating ribs are strategically placed to protrude through the slots when circuit board is mounted to the housing portion. Thus, when the housing portion is joined to another housing portion, which also may include insulating ribs strategically placed, the ribs increase the breakdown voltage of the boundary.

System for increasing isolation boundary withstand voltage

A pair of back-to-back-coupled zener diodes is coupled from the input to the output of each leg of a common mode choke used in a LC circuit for reducing EMI into the power supply of an electrical device. The reversed biased zener diode of each pair breaks down when ringing voltage amplitude resulting from a voltage surge applied at the inputs of the common mode choke exceeds the breakdown threshold voltage of the zener diode. Transorb devices may be substituted for the back-to-back-coupled diode pairs.

A method and architecture that uses a ground-fault-circuit-interrupter ('GFCI') proximate the tap to provide fault protection along a Low Power Network drop cable. The solution is single-ended and effective regardless of the input, impedance and type of termination equipment, such as an NIU, connected thereto. The GFCI may be incorporated into a single enclosure that includes a power passing tap and filter device, such as a low pass filter and a splitter. Application will typically be in a CATV network employing center core powering or Siamese powering. Ground fault protection is provided to personnel that contact an energized conductor of the drop cable who would therefore otherwise become an electrical path between the energized conductor and ground. A device providing this protection is typically mounted along a network cable proximate a tap point reasonably is inaccessible, except to service personnel.
