A baling assembly can include a housing defining an interior, an access panel coupled to the housing and providing selective access to the interior, a baling chamber within the housing, and a ram adjacent the baling chamber. The ram includes a movable wall and a driving mechanism operably coupled to the movable wall for compression of material within the baling chamber.

A vertical shaft impactor includes an impacting assembly that is configurable in a number of different ways, depending on the material to be processed by the impactor. The vertical shaft impactor includes an impacting chamber and an impacting assembly disposed in the chamber. The impacting assembly includes a number of rotors supported on a shaft, with the locations of the rotors being adjustable along the shaft. The rotors include adjustable structures for working and reducing materials in the vertical shaft impactor.

An apparatus includes an elevated structure extending along and above a receptacle, a trolley for travel along the elevated structure, a trolley bucket supported by the trolley for receiving and discharging unconsolidated material, and a high-lift structure including a rotatable dumper lift for lifting unconsolidated material from a first elevation to a second elevation greater than the first elevation, and discharging unconsolidated material into the trolley bucket. The high-lift structure is operably coupled with the elevated structure. The rotatable dumper lift can receive a first volume of unconsolidated material at the first elevation, lift the first volume from the first elevation to the second elevation, and discharge the first volume into the trolley bucket. The trolley bucket can discharge the first volume of unconsolidated material into the receptacle while the rotatable dumper lift receives a second volume of unconsolidated material at the first elevation.

An apparatus for removing liquid from a composite mixture of liquid and solids comprises a hopper mounted atop a compactor ram assembly. A snout section and an extruder section are mounted axial to the compactor ram assembly. A hydraulically-operated ram compresses wet material into the snout and extruder sections. Under pressure from the ram, liquid in the waste material escapes from drainage holes in the snout section top, bottom, and sides, and the extruder section top, bottom, and sides. A platen, pivotally mounted to the extruder top plate near the exit of the device and biased with a constant pressure, controls the back pressure in the extruder and snout sections. The apparatus has an extruder section and snout section of the same constant cross section and coaxial with each other. In a second embodiment of the apparatus, certain of the walls may diverge to further facilitate access to the first platen through the exit opening.

A device for adjusting the lateral position of an endless belt comprises a sensor for detecting the lateral position of the endless belt relative to a predetermined position, a roller disposed adjacent to the endless belt, and a controller operatively connected to the sensor and to the roller by way of an air bellows, wherein the controller will automatically cause the air bellows to move the roller to urge the endless belt toward the predetermined positioned when the sensor detects that the lateral position of the endless belt is away from the predetermined position.

An apparatus for removing liquid from a composite mixture of liquid and solids comprising a hopper 16 mounted atop a compactor ram assembly 10, having a snout section 12 and an extruder section 14 mounted in a generally axial direction to the compactor ram assembly 10. Wet waste material is loaded into the hopper 16 and falls onto a loading floor 158. A hydraulically operated ram 208 compresses the wet material into the snout and extruder sections 12, 14. Under pressure from the ram 208, liquid in the waste material escapes from numerous drainage slots 25 in the loading floor, the snout section top, bottom and sides 24, 22, 20, and the extruder section top, bottom and sides 30, 28, 26. A platen 80, pivotally mounted to the extruder top plate 30 near the exit of the device and biased with a constant pressure, controls the back pressure in the extruder and snout sections 14, 12. A first embodiment has a converging extruder section 14, having a narrower cross section at the exit of the section, which aids in compacting the material being dewatered. A second embodiment has a slightly diverging extruder section to prevent impaction of dewater material inside the device when operating with certain composite mixtures such as paper pulp.
