A system for diagnostic testing may include a meter for performing a diagnostic test on a sample applied to a test media, the meter having a housing and an interface for receiving a signal representing coding information, and a container configured to contain test media compatible with the meter, the container having a coding element associated therewith. Additionally, the system may provide a mechanism for removing the meter from an interconnected test container and reattaching it to a new container using on-container coding methods that can recalibrate the meter for the new container of test strips.

Method and apparatus for coding diagnostic meters

A system for measuring a property of a sample is provided. The system comprises a diagnostic measuring device having a memory and a diagnostic test strip for collecting the sample. The strip has embedded thereon a pattern representative of at least first data and second data, the first data being data representing at least one of parameters related to measuring the property, codes usable for calibration of the diagnostic measuring device, or parameters indicating proper connection between the measuring device and the test strip and the second data usable for detecting and rejecting potential errors affecting the proper measurement of the property.

Systems, methods, and devices are provided for determining an impedance measurement of a sample of fluid on a test strip having a base layer, at least two drive electrodes disposed on the base layer and in electrical communication with a current-source (I) for flowing an AC current provided by the current-source (I) through a fluid sample between the at least two drive electrodes, and at least two sense electrodes disposed on the base layer and positioned between the at least two drive electrodes, each of the at least two sense electrodes configured for measuring a difference in an AC potential therebetween to determine an impedance measurement of the fluid sample between the at least two sense electrodes.

A customizable diagnostic meter is provided. The diagnostic meter includes a meter for performing a diagnostic test, wherein the meter includes a housing having a slot, and a module having one or more functions. The slot is configured to receive and removably secure at least a portion of the module. A customizable diagnostic meter kit including two or more modules configured to be inserted in a meter is also provided.

A system is disclosed, the system comprises a diagnostic test strip having a diagnostic end and a meter contacting end, the meter contacting end having at least one identifying feature that distinguishes the meter contacting end from the diagnostic end; a diagnostic meter configured to read information from the meter contacting end of the test strip when the meter contacting end of the test strip is fully inserted in to the meter; and a port in the meter, the port having a gating mechanism configured to identify the meter contacting end and allow the test strip to be fully inserted into the meter only after the gating mechanism identifies the meter contacting end of the test strip as a proper end for insertion.

Gating system and method for biosensor test strips

Systems and methods for the wireless pairing of a personal health device (PHD) (e.g., blood glucose monitor) with a computing device (e.g., smartphone) are disclosed herein. In an embodiment, the PHD communicates a private key to the computing device via a first communication medium (e.g., light signal, audio signal, pattern). The PHD receives from the computing device via a second wireless communication medium (e.g., Bluetooth&#xae; or WiFi) pairing information including the private key. The PHD can then establish a secure communication channel with the computing device by pairing the PHD to the computing device.
