A horizontal boring rig that may be used for the excavation of horizontal bores in soil or other substrates without the use of tracks or other supporting equipment. The boring rig may include a hydraulic motor or other powered device for turning an auger or other excavation tool. The hydraulic motor may be pivotally mounted to the boring rig and drive the bore string through an intermediate shaft including a universal joint. The degree of freedom provided by the universal joint and motor mounting prevents breakage of the boring string from deflection or kickback. A front guide may be used to prevent excessive deflection of the universal joint. The boring rig may ride on skids that allow the rig to follow a working grade and may incorporate spoil channels for directing excavated material around or away from the skid feet for improved accuracy in following the working grade.

A method is disclosed for displaying a sequence of video items on an electronic device. During playback of a current video item, a dismissal input such as a swipe or tap/click is received via a user input mechanism, indicating that display of the current video item is to be ceased and that display of the next video item in the sequence is to be commenced. In response to the dismissal input, summary information is displayed on the display screen, providing non-video communication of an informational payload of the current video item. A timer is started at the commencement of display of the summary information, at the expiry of which display of the next video item is to be commenced. In response to a resumption input such as a touchscreen tap or cursor click on the summary information before expiry of the timer, playback of the current video item is resumed via the display screen.

A system is provided that presents video content on an electronic device such that, when a user swipes to dismiss the video content, non-video summary information or contextual material about the video content is automatically displayed in place of the video content. The non-video summary information is presented on a summary card dragged on-screen responsive to user swipe input. If, for example, the user swipes to dismiss a video advertisement before an informational payload of the video advertisement has been delivered, the informational payload can automatically be displayed in text format on a summary card dragged by the user in replacement of the dismissed video advertisement.

An engagement tracking system monitors user interactions with media items to calculate an engagement score of the media item. The engagement tracking system may be or include a group of one or more server machines configured to detect an exposure of a client device to a media item maintained by the engagement tracking system. In response to detecting the exposure of the client device to the media item, the engagement tracking system tracks a location of the client device based on access requests to location based media items. The engagement tracking system may thereby monitor client devices exposed to the media item in order to calculate an engagement score of the media item.

A system is provided that presents video content on an electronic device such that, when a user acts to dismiss the video content, non-video summary information or contextual material about the video content is automatically displayed in place of the video content. If, for example, the user skips a video advertisement before an informational payload of the video advertisement has been delivered, the informational payload can automatically be displayed in text format in replacement of the dismissed video advertisement. In some instances, the non-video summary information is displayed for a predefined interval, after which display transitions to a next media item. Additional user input during the predefined interval can trigger resumption of the relevant video content.
