Some devices, systems, and methods specify nozzles of a fluid dispenser that are usable to eject fluid and nozzles of the fluid dispenser that are not usable to eject fluid; specify contiguous nozzle groups of the nozzles that are usable to eject fluid; specify a coverage height of a largest contiguous nozzle group of the contiguous nozzle groups; determine, for one or more pass combinations, a respective combined coverage height, wherein each pass combination respectively includes two or more passes, of the fluid dispenser, that are shifted relative to each other by a shift value; and select, as a selected basis of a scanning pattern, the largest contiguous nozzle group or, alternatively, one of the one or more pass combinations based on the coverage height of the largest contiguous nozzle group and on the respective combined coverage height of each of the one or more pass combinations.

Systems, devices, and methods for dispensing drops of fluid according to drop patterns

A performance monitor determines a performance characteristic of a plurality of dispensers receiving fluid from a reservoir. Each of the plurality of dispensers has an actuator that, when actuated, causes the each of the dispensers to generate a droplet of the fluid. A driver generates a drive command to the actuator to adjust a physical attribute of the droplet based on the performance characteristic to satisfy a performance criteria.

A method of inspecting a dispenser including a faceplate comprises translating a sensor across the faceplate while measuring a distance between the sensor and the faceplate. The sensor is oriented such that a longitudinal axis of the sensor extends at an acute angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the faceplate. The method may include translating another sensor across the faceplate while measuring the same distance. Or the method may include another translating of the sensor across the faceplate while measuring the same distance. In either case, the sensor is oriented such that the longitudinal axis of the sensor extends at an obtuse angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the faceplate. The method includes determining, based on the measured distances, whether an amount of accumulated formable material on the surface of the faceplate is greater than a predetermined value.

Systems and methods for precision inkjet printing are disclosed. A method determining an actuation parameter associated with a pressure waveform. Based on the pressure waveform, the method also includes actuating a print head to eject a droplet from a nozzle and acquiring an image of the droplet. The method further includes processing the acquired image to estimate a volume of the droplet and based on the estimated volume of the droplet and a target volume, adjusting the actuation parameter.
