Disclosed are various embodiments for providing separate views for items. A network page providing a summary view of at least a portion of a pool of items is encoded in a computing resource for rendering by a client computing device. A window superimposed over at least a portion of the summary view is rendered by the client computing device. The summary view is deemphasized relative to the window that is superimposed. The window provides a separate view for examination of one item from the pool of items, and the window facilitates a serial examination of the pool of items.

Providing separate views for items

Disclosed are various embodiments for providing separate views for items. A network page providing a summary view of at least a portion of a pool of items is encoded in a computing resource for rendering by a client computing device. A window superimposed over at least a portion of the summary view is rendered by the client computing device. The window provides a separate view for examination of one item from the pool of items, and the window facilitates a serial examination of the pool of items.

Guided item selection based on profiles maintained dynamically. The profiles represent, for example, purchase, usage, or personality profiles corresponding to various segments of the user population. Each of the profiles has one or more items associated with the profile. The user selects one or more of the profiles while browsing or searching for items. The items associated with the selected profile are provided to the user. The user's interaction, or lack of interaction, with the items is monitored and analyzed. Based on the monitored interaction, a relevance of the selected profile relative to the other profiles is dynamically adjusted along with a relevance of particular items for the selected profile. For example, items may be added or removed from the list based on the monitored user interactions.

Community-based shopping profiles

A configurable item finder user interface (UI) is provided that helps users locate desired items within data stores of item data and item attribute data. The configurable item finder UI presents a set of selectors through which users can quickly indicate the desired attribute values. In contrast to a request-response model in which users are required to select desired values for individual attributes serially and iteratively and wait for matching results to be displayed on a page, the configurable item finder UI dynamically adjusts its result display based on user interaction with the one or more selectors. Instances of the configurable item finder UI can be configured by a content management service to be used at various times and in various locations within a deployed or third party environment.

Configurable item finder user interface

A server identifies descriptors related to an item of content and inserts them into an address of a template web page. The server extracts the keywords in the address after receiving a request for the web page from an application program. Content relating to the descriptors is determined and associated with the web page, thereby creating a customized web page. In response to the request, the server provides the customized web page to the application program.

Search rankings with dynamically customized content

Requests are received for information about a first item or service. Second items (or products or services) are identified that are associated with the first item or category of the first item. The compatibility of the first and second items or services is determined. The customer is informed of the outcome of the determination and provided with information about additional, compatible items or services.
