A method for manufacturing an information handling system is disclosed wherein the method includes receiving an order for an information handling system (IHS), wherein the IHS comprises at least one virtual machine (VM) and determining a number of physical systems and an amount of storage required for the IHS. The method may also include providing the number of physical systems and the amount of storage and providing virtualization software for the number of physical systems, wherein the virtualization software is utilized to create the at least one virtual machine. The method further includes pre-configuring a plurality of parameters for the at least one VM.

Virtual machine manufacturing methods and media

A method is provided for managing errors in a virtualized information handling system that includes an error detection system and a hypervisor allowing multiple virtual machines to run on the information handling system. The hypervisor may assign at least one memory region to each of multiple virtual machines. The error detection system may detect an error, determine a physical memory address associated with the error, and report that address to the hypervisor. Additionally, the hypervisor may determine whether the memory region assigned to each virtual machine includes the physical memory address associated with the error. The hypervisor may shut down each virtual machine for which a memory region assigned to that virtual machine includes the physical memory address associated with the error, and not shut down each virtual machine for which the memory regions assigned to that virtual machine do not include the physical memory address associated with the error.

System and method for increased system availability in virtualized environments

A method for managing a redundant memory architecture for an information handling system (IHS) may include providing redundant memory for a portion of system memory wherein the redundant memory is configured to mirror data stored in the portion of system memory. The method may further include reporting a parameter associated with the portion of system memory to an operating system of the IHS and executing a program from the portion of system memory.

Redundant memory architecture management methods and systems

A system and method are disclosed for the transcoding of data from a first format to a second format. A data format transcoder receives a request for data from a requester. The desired format of the requested data is determined. A descriptor file containing formatting information describing the requested format is loaded into the data format transcoder. The requested data is retrieved in its native format along with its corresponding common descriptor. The requested data is read in its native format, using the formatting information from its associated common descriptor. The data format transcoder then uses the formatting information in the common descriptor of the requested format to perform transcoding operations to convert the requested data from its native format into the requested format.
