A method includes instructing a vehicle to autonomously navigate to a given parking space from among the plurality of parking spaces, setting the given parking space to an occupied state in response to the vehicle being positioned within the given parking space, and obtaining infrastructure sensor data from an infrastructure sensor. The method includes determining whether the given parking space has transitioned from the occupied state to the unoccupied state based on the infrastructure sensor data, and in response to determining the given parking space has transitioned to the unoccupied state: obtaining location data from the vehicle, determining whether the vehicle is located at a predefined location based on the location data, and instructing the vehicle to perform a vehicle intrusion routine in response to the vehicle not being located at the predefined location.

System and method for detecting vehicle intrusions

An enforcement vehicle receives vehicle broadcasts from motorist vehicles, including vehicle identification information. The enforcement vehicle presents the identification information in a selectable manner on a display and receives selection of one of the motorist vehicles. The enforcement vehicle sends a communication request to the selected motorist vehicle and receives confirmation from the motorist vehicle, resulting in an open communication channel. Further, enforcement vehicle receives identification of information to be provided from the motorist vehicle and sends an information request for the identified information. Responsive to receiving a response to the information request, the enforcement vehicle, or a process associated therewith, determines whether information included in the response indicates compliance with a predefined requirement, and, responsive to non-compliance, alerts an occupant of the enforcement vehicle of the existence of and at least one characteristic of the non-compliance.

Systems and methods for vehicle smart negotiation and cooperation

Computing vehicle-centric road usage without high definition (HD) road maps is performed. Road usage charging (RUC) charge geometry rules defining a zone in which RUC are charged are received via a V2X transceiver of a vehicle. The vehicle determines a roadway type based on captured sensor data indicative of the surroundings of the vehicle, the roadway type being selected from a plurality of roadway types including a first roadway type where RUC charge is incurred and a second roadway type where RUC charge is not incurred. The vehicle identifies applicable rules of the RUC charge geometry rules according to a current location of the vehicle, the applicable rules specifying how tariffs are computed for the determined roadway type. The vehicle accumulates, by the vehicle, vehicle RUC charge using vehicle bus data indicative of progress of the vehicle within the zone and the determined roadway type.

Vehicle-centric road usage application using vehicle sensors

A system includes a processor configured to detect a vehicle key-off. The processor is also configured to delete from a primary memory ('internal memory') of an electronic control unit an existing software version for which a new software version update exists in a secondary memory of the ECU. The processor is further configured to load the new software version from the secondary memory (“external memory”) into the primary memory and upon detection of a failure during the load, delete the new software version from the primary memory and reload the existing software version from the secondary memory.

Method and apparatus for vehicle software update installation

Position enhancement for vehicle positioning is provided. Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) messages are received from a roadside unit (RSU) to an onboard unit (OBU) of a vehicle via a transceiver of the vehicle, the V2X messages indicating a location of the RSU. Image sensors of the vehicle are utilized to capture sensor data of the RSU. A current position of the vehicle is updated to a corrected current position of the vehicle based the RSU as shown in the sensor data and the location of the RSU indicated in the V2X messages.

Vehicle positioning using V2X RSU messaging and vehicular sensors

Smart tolling for vehicles is provided. A toll advertisement message (TAM) is received by a vehicle, broadcast from a road-side unit (RSU) via V2X communication, the TAM defining a plurality of toll road tariff data elements, each of the toll road tariff data elements specifying a set of tolling factors indexed by a unique toll context identifier. Roadway usage of the vehicle is determined. A charge for the roadway usage is determined according to the set of tolling factors of the TAM. A toll usage message (TUM) is sent via the V2X communication, the TUM indicating, to the RSU, the tariff for the roadway usage of the vehicle.

Toll advertisement message road topologies

Toll advertisement messages (TAMs) are broadcast via V2X communication, each of the TAMs indicating geographic locations of lanes of a roadway for which tolls are due and cost information for traversing the lanes of the roadway. A tolling usage message (TUM) is received via the V2X communication, the TUM indicating, to a roadside unit (RSU), information regarding a vehicle entering one of the lanes of the roadway and a unique random account identifier to be used by the RSU to identify the vehicle. A toll receipt message (TRM) is broadcast via the V2X communication, the TRM including the unique random account identifier and indicating, to the vehicle, a final cost charged to the vehicle for access to the one of the lanes of the roadway.

Secure C-V2X smart tolling

A toll advertisement message is received, via a V2X transceiver of a vehicle, defining a metered zone in which tolls are charged. Input data indicative of a current position of the vehicle with respect to the metered zone is determined. A state machine is utilized to determine tolled roadway usage of the vehicle according to the metered zone and the current position. A toll usage message indicative of the tolled roadway usage is provided via the V2X transceiver.

V2X road usage charging

A toll advertisement message (TAM) broadcast from a roadside unit (RSU) is received by a vehicle via V2X communication, the TAM indicating geographic locations of lanes of a roadway for which tolls are due and cost information for traversing the lanes of the roadway. A heading of the vehicle is determined in relation to a TAM reference point indicating a geographic location of a toll gantry. A toll zone boundary region for the vehicle is identified by filtering the geographic locations of the lanes in the TAM to include only those lanes in a travel direction consistent with the heading. A lane straddling algorithm is utilized to identify, for each of the lanes in the travel direction, a respective percentage within each lane that the vehicle is traveling. A tolling usage message (TUM) is sent via the V2X communication, indicating to the RSU the percentage lane usage of the vehicle.

Smart toll application determining for various toll applications using V2X communications

An on-board unit of a vehicle includes first and second transceivers. A processor of the vehicle monitors transmissions received from the first and second transceivers, receives an incoming message sent to the processor from the first transceiver, the incoming message being designated for distribution to roadway participants, identifies based on the monitored transmissions whether the second transceiver is in communication with devices of roadway participants available to receive outgoing messages, and if so, construct an outgoing message based on the incoming message and send the outgoing message via the second transceiver, and monitors vehicle network bus traffic to identify a current speed of the vehicle, and responsive to the vehicle moving at least a threshold speed, construct and send vehicle-information outgoing messages including roadway observations of the vehicle, using the first transceiver and the second transceiver, the vehicle-information outgoing messages being designated for distribution to the roadway participants.

Method and apparatus for bridging and optimizing V2X networks in vehicles

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are directed to increasing the accuracy of vehicle positioning. Example methods may include transmitting, by an on-board unit, a message including a motion information associated with the vehicle; determining, by a processor, a signal comprising modulating radiation, the signal identifying the vehicle; receiving, by the on-board unit, an additional message, the additional message including location information and a timestamp; and determining a location of the vehicle based on the location information.

Systems and methods for increasing the accuracy of vehicle positioning

A road-side unit includes a first transceiver configured to communicate using a first vehicle-to-infrastructure protocol and a second transceiver configured to communicate using a second vehicle-to-infrastructure protocol, the first vehicle-to-infrastructure protocol and the second vehicle-to-infrastructure protocol being incompatible with one another. The road-side unit further includes a processor programmed to monitor transmissions from the first and second transceivers, receive an incoming message sent to the processor from the first transceiver, the incoming message being designated for distribution to roadway participants, identify based on the monitored transmissions whether the second transceiver is in communication with devices of roadway participants available to receive outgoing messages, and if so, construct an outgoing message based on the incoming message and send the outgoing message via the second transceiver.
