A method of generating an aircraft display includes receiving data at a device. The data includes information associated with a first aircraft and one or more other aircraft in an airspace associated with the first aircraft. The method includes determining, at the device, estimated flightpaths for the first aircraft and the one or more other aircraft. The method includes generating, at the device, a detect and avoid gauge display based on a current flightpath of the first aircraft and the estimated flightpaths. The method also includes sending, from the device to a display device coupled to the device, the detect and avoid gauge for display. The detect and avoid gauge is configured to display a flightpath indicator to indicate a direction of travel of the first aircraft and is configured to display alert bands related to projected separation violations with respect to the one or more other aircraft.

Aircraft detect and avoid gauge

A rough initial estimate of Line of Sight range ('pseudo-range') is generated essentially immediately following the detection of an object by a passive sensor on a vehicle. The data are combined with prior detection likelihood and prior performance models for the sensor. These comparisons generate a posterior probability distribution of pseudo-range estimates. A pseudo-range estimate is derived from the probability distribution and output for use in detect and avoid decision-making and action planning. The pseudo-range estimate can be updated to improve its accuracy, such as by using a recursive filter (e.g., a Kalman filter). Other information, such as current atmospheric data, or known (or likely) vehicular activity in the region and at the current time, can be used in addition to the vehicle's spatial and temporal location, to improve accuracy.

Pseudo-range estimation from a passive sensor

A method includes determining data indicating velocity uncertainty, relative position uncertainty, or both, associated with an aircraft and a navigation hazard. The method also includes determining a set of bounding vectors based on the data and determining a plurality of candidate intersection points that together correspond to circular or spherical regions defined by the set of bounding vectors. The method also includes identifying a region of interest based on a projected intersection of the aircraft or the navigation hazard with a candidate intersection point and generating a situational awareness display based on the region of interest.

Aircraft flight information system and method

A method of generating an aircraft display includes determining an estimated first flight path of a first aircraft and determining an estimated second flight path of a second aircraft. The method also includes determining an estimated proximity of the first aircraft and the second aircraft based on the estimated flight paths. The method further includes, based on the estimated proximity indicating a projected separation violation condition, determining a navigation alert region. The method also includes generating a display that includes a map, a first graphical feature overlaying the map and representing of the first aircraft, a second graphical feature overlaying the map and representing of the second aircraft, and a third graphical feature overlaying the map and indicating dimensions of the navigation alert region.
