A motorcycle helmet vent and venting system that is low profile and does not take up much space on the helmet shell. A motorcycle vent that pivots internally to allow air flow and pivots such that the vent tab may penetrate the outer plane of the helmet shell. A motorcycle helmet with raised portions in its shell rearward of vents in the helmet shell.

Protective structures, such as helmets, may have a shell including an outer shell and a tunnel element integral to the outer shell. The tunnel element may have a first opening at an outer surface side of the shell and a second opening at an inner surface side of the shell so that air flow may occur between the openings and wherein the tunnel element is fused to the outer shell. An impact liner may be directly in-molded to shells suitable for use in motorcycle helmets and other helmets that must meet certain standards. The impact liner may include one or more venting channels that are coupled to a tunnel integral to the shell structure.

Protective gear for a wearer's body such as the joint of a limb, that has an attachment system with few components, and integrated with the protective gear. The attachment system uses straps that can be adjusted by a wearer once during a first use and, after removal, retain their adjustments for a second use by the same wearer. Securing the attachment system in place can be accompanied by an auditory signal.

A ventilation system for a helmet that allows for ventilation of the interior of a helmet. A ventilation system for the cheek bar portion of a helmet, including a motorcycle helmet. The ventilation system may include ribbed passageways that facilitate airflow along the interior of the helmet, and may include access openings in an intermediate portion that couple the airflow from the ribbed passageways to the area of the helmet in contact with the user.
