A multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) receiver includes a receive path circuitry configured to receive a first signal from a first antenna and a second signal from a second antenna, downconvert the first signal to a first frequency to generate a first intermediate frequency (IF) signal, downconvert the second signal to a second frequency different from the first frequency to generate a second IF signal, and combine the first IF signal and the second IF signal into a common signal.

A signal repeating element for repeating a signal includes a housing, at least one transmit antenna element positioned on one side of the housing and at least one receive antenna element positioned on the same one side of the housing. Receiver and transmitter circuitry is coupled with respective ones of the receive and transmit antenna elements. Phase circuitry for affecting the phase of signals from the at least one receive antenna element and at least one transmit antenna element is coupled between the respective receive or transmit antenna element and the receiver or transmitter circuitry.

Repeaters for wireless communication systems

A repeater and associated method of use includes at least one antenna element for communicating in one direction and at least one antenna element for communicating in another direction. A radio frequency uplink path and a radio frequency downlink path are coupled between the antennas. At least one of the radio frequency uplink path or the radio frequency downlink path includes an adaptive cancellation circuit. The adaptive cancellation circuit is configured to generate a cancellation signal without requiring an injected signal. The cancellation signal, when added to a radio frequency signal in the respective uplink and downlink paths, substantially reduces feedback signals present in the radio frequency signal.

A system for suppressing transmission channel noise in a signal transmission/reception device&#x2014;particularly a time division duplex (TDD) wireless communications device&#x2014;is provided. The system provides one or more shunt elements, instantiated at some point along the device's signal transmission channel. One or more attenuation elements are also instantiated at some point along the signal transmission channel, as are one or more disabling elements. A trigger signal indicates when the device is shifting from signal transmission operation (or mode) to signal reception operation. Responsive to assertion of the trigger signal, the shunt, attenuation and disabling elements are activated.

Versatile system for transceiver noise reduction in a time-division duplexing wireless network

A flat-panel repeater includes a housing having a pair of oppositely facing surfaces, at least one antenna element mounted to each of the surfaces for radiating energy in a direction opposite to that of an antenna element mounted to the other of the surfaces, and an electronic circuit mounted within the housing and operatively coupling signals between at least one antenna element on each of the oppositely facing surfaces of the module. Isolation between the antennas on opposite sides of the repeater is improved by various techniques, such as use of adaptive cancellation which removes a significant portion of the feedback signal power, therefore increasing the total system isolation by the same amount. This additional isolation can be used to achieve greater system gain, and therefore significantly extend the range of the system. The repeater may also include a beamforming arrangement for creating a desired antenna pattern of one antenna relative to a base station and a desired antenna pattern of the other antenna relative to subscriber equipment.

A Class S RF power amplifier for use in a radio frequency (RF) transmitter. The Class S power amplifier comprises a delta-sigma modulator that receives an analog modulated RF carrier and generates a pulse-width modulated binary signal. The Class S power amplifier also comprises a switch mode power amplifier that receives the pulse-width modulated binary signal generated by the delta-sigma modulator and generates an output carrier signal that switches between a fully on state and a fully off state. The sampling rate of the delta-sigma modulator is less than four times the frequency of the output carrier signal generated by the switch mode power amplifier.

Apparatus and method for reduced sample rate class S RF power amplifier

A predistorer configured for use with an RF power amplifier having an input loop configured to be coupled to the input of the RF power amplifier and peak control circuit. Such an input loop includes a look-up table containing predistortion values to be applied to an input signal, in response to the power in the input signal, for forming a predistorted input signal. The predistorter may further include an output loop, such an output loop configured to measure an intermodulation distortion product of the RF power amplifier output resulting from the predistorted input signal, and operable to update the predistortion values in the look-up table. Such a peak control circuit configured to select a power supply voltage for the RF power amplifier in response to the power in the input signal.

Elimination of peak clipping and improved efficiency for RF power amplifiers with a predistorter

The present invention provides a method of retransmitting a GPS signal inside a structure. The method includes receiving the GPS signal, amplifying the GPS signal to produce a second GPS signal, and retransmitting the second GPS signal inside the structure either directly or indirectly through an intermediate link in one of the unlicensed bands. The present invention may also be used for the retransmission of digital radio signals inside a structure.

An integrated repeater includes a housing having opposing sides, a donor antenna mounted on one of the opposing sides, a null antenna mounted on the other of the opposing sides, and repeater electronics mounted in the housing and operatively interconnecting the donor antenna and the null antenna. The repeater electronics include a beamforming arrangement for creating a desired antenna pattern of the donor antenna relative to a base station and a desired antenna pattern of the null antenna relative to subscriber equipment, and interference cancellation electronics for cancelling interference feedback signals between the donor antenna and the null antenna in both an uplink path and a downlink path.

Integrated repeater

A method of using a digital repeater for receiving and retransmitting radio frequency (RF) signals. The method including down converting a first RF signal to an intermediate frequency (IF) signal, converting the IF signal into a digital signal, processing the digital signal with a the digital signal processor, amplifying the digital signal into an amplified signal using the digital signal processor, and converting the amplified signal into an analog signal. The method further including up converting the analog signal to a second RF signal suitable for antenna transmission.

Digital repeater

A repeater for transmitting and receiving radio frequency (RF) signals to and from a pager. The repeater includes a forward path for receiving a first RF signal from a base station and a reverse path for receiving a pager signal from a pager. The forward path includes a channelizer which down converts the first RF signal to an intermediate frequency (IF) signal, amplifies the IF signal, and up converts the IF signal to a second RF signal suitable for transmission to a pager. The reverse path includes a second amplifier which amplifies the pager signal to an amplified signal suitable for transmission to a base station antenna.

Method and apparatus for transmitting radio frequency signals to and from a pager

A repeater diversity system includes a null antenna having a given phase center and polarization for receiving a communications signal from a remote signal source, a donor antenna for transmitting a signal to a base station, and a diversity null antenna having the same phase center as the receive null antenna and a polarization orthogonal to the polarization of the main null antenna. A combining network is coupled to the main null antenna and the diversity null antenna for combining the signals therefrom and an uplink channel module is coupled with the combining network for delivering diversity combined receive signals to the donor antenna.
