An electronic controller for an engine and a propeller, a control system and related methods are described herein. The control system comprises the controller having a first channel and a second channel independent from and redundant to the first channel. Each channel comprises a control processor configured to receive first engine and propeller parameters and to output, based on the first engine and propeller parameters, at least one engine control command and at least one propeller control command. Each channel also comprises a protection processor configured to receive second engine and propeller parameters and to output, based on the second engine and propeller parameters, at least one engine protection command and at least one propeller protection command. The control system comprises sensors for measuring the parameters of the engine and/or the propeller and effectors configured to control the engine and the propeller.

Integrated propeller and engine controller

There is described herein methods and systems for testing a propeller feathering function. The method comprises monitoring a rotational speed over time of propeller blades of an aircraft, commanding an angle change of the propeller blades, comparing a post-angle change rotational speed of the propeller blades to an expected rotational speed without the commanded angle change and obtaining, by the processor, a rotational speed difference, and issuing a test passed signal when the rotational speed difference exceeds a threshold and a test failed signal when the rotational speed difference does not exceed the threshold.

An aircraft engine comprises an engine case, the engine case flange(s). A harness of wires extends in proximity to the engine case. The harness of wires includes two or more metal shield sleeves externally covering a bundle of wires in a longitudinal direction, the metal shield sleeves being at least partially electrically insulated from one another. A system and method for blade angle position feedback. The system comprises an annular member operatively connected to rotate with a propeller, a sensor fixedly mounted adjacent the annular member and configured for detecting a passage of each singularity as the annular member is rotated and axially displaced and for generating a sensor signal accordingly, the annular member and sensor configured for relative axial displacement between a first relative axial position and a second relative axial position respectively corresponding to the first and the second mode of operation, and a detection unit connected to the sensor for receiving the sensor signal therefrom, determining on the basis of the sensor signal a time interval elapsed between the passage of successive singularities, and computing from the time interval blade angle position.

System and method for electronic propeller blade angle position feedback

A gas turbine engine including a composite case having a conductive path therein, and a conductive case connected to the composite case. The conductive case is made of a conductive material. A fastener connects the composite case to the conductive case. The fastener is conductively connected to the conductive material of the conductive case and not directly conductively connected to the conductive path. At least one voltage discharge channeling assembly is connected to the fastener and to the conductive case. The at least one voltage discharge channeling assembly has a portion conductively connected to the conductive path. The at least one voltage discharge channeling assembly is conductively connected to the fastener. A method of assembling an engine casing in a gas turbine engine is also provided.
