Methods are provided for manufacturing disposable diagnostic test elements via laser welding, where the methods include providing, in a stacked or layered arrangement, a base layer, a cover layer, and optionally an intermediate layer, where one of the layers is an absorbing layer and at least one other of the layers is a transparent layer, and where one of the layers includes a coating adapted to interact with a body fluid sample when conducting a test on the resulting test element; directing a laser beam in a weld area through the at least one transparent layer and against the absorbing layer; and fusing the transparent and the absorbing layers together to form the test element, where the coating covers the weld area at least in part and absorbs and/or scatters radiation from the laser beam at least in part. Disposable diagnostic test elements also are provided.

Disclosed herein are analytical aids having a surface coated at least partially with a hydrophilic coating, where the hydrophilic coating includes nanoparticles with silica structure and an average particle size in a range from about 1 nm to about 500 nm. Also disclosed are methods of producing the analytical aids, as well as using the analytical aids in, for example, a sampling device containing the at least partially coated analytical aid.

An analytical test element for determining an analyte in a body fluid comprises a detection area in which the analyte is detected and an application site at which the body fluid can be applied to the test element. The application site is spaced apart from the detection area, wherein at least some of the body fluid applied to the application site moves from the application site to the detection area. The test element also comprises a contamination area which at least partially adjoins the application site, wherein an adhesive substance is applied to at least part of the contamination area of the test element. The adhesive substance adheres to the contamination area of the test element and is able to interact with an excess amount of applied body fluid such that at least some of the body fluid adheres to the test element and thereby an excess amount of body fluid remains in the contamination area. An additional embodiment provides for test elements which, after use, can be stored in a storage container. Another embodiment provides for the production of the test elements.
