In general, in one aspect, a forum for user interaction is provided. A clone of the forum is created, thereby allowing any number of users to be in the same forum while limiting the number of users in each instance of the forum. It is determined whether a relationship exists between a user entering the forum and one or more other users entering the forum or with one or more other users already in the forum. If a relationship exists, the user entering the forum is placed in a clone of the forum based on the relationship.

Populating online forums

A server within an online environment is configured to store a set of bookmark media objects that provide a multimedia preview of the destinations within the environment. The bookmark media objects can be graphic thumbnails of corresponding web pages, audio streams, video streams or any combination thereof or other suitable media that provides a representation of the destination. A client device is communicatively coupled to the server and is configured to store references to the network destinations and references to the corresponding bookmark media objects. A web browser executing in an operating environment provided by the client device is configured to retrieve and present the bookmark media objects to a user for selection. Based on the selection, the web browser accesses the corresponding network destination. Each bookmark media object is updated as a function of a current state of the corresponding network destination, user information or general conditions of the computing environment.

Methods and apparatus, including computer program apparatus, implement techniques for processing data. A first process runs in a first address space, and includes a request to send data having a data type to a second process running in a second address space. At runtime, a type creation function is called to create a first type object describing the data type. The first type object has a set of associated functions for processing data having the data type. The set of associated functions includes a marshalling function for encoding data having the data type and an unmarshalling function for decoding data having the data type. The data is sent to the second process by executing the marshalling function on the data in the first process to generate encoded data and executing the unmarshalling function on the encoded data to decode the encoded data in the second process.

Method and apparatus for remote communication of data associated with dynamically generated type object at runtime to describe the data type

After each complete stroke in a handwriting recognition process, a hypothesis is generated whether a word break is present between the previous stroke and the new stroke. This hypothesis is weighted with a probability of a word-break occurring between the strokes. This probability is determined from the geometrical relationships between characters. Subsequently, a word search is carried out on the basis of these weighted hypotheses, to identity the most likely candidates for the words represented by the written strokes. A user interface is provided that offers the user a limited list of alternative word recognitions for a group of characters. These recognitions undergo segmentation filtering, in accordance with the word breaks of the selected hypotheses, to present the user with only those alternatives having the same groupings of strokes.

Character segmentation technique with integrated word search for

A classification system is provided for combining multiple input representations by a single neural network architecture. In such a classification system having a single neural network architecture, classification channels corresponding to various input representations may be integrated through their own and shared hidden layers of the network to produce highly accurate classification. The classification system is particularly applicable to character classifying applications which use stroke and character image features as the main classification criteria, along with scalar features such as stroke count and aspect ratio features as secondary classification. The classification channels corresponding to the scalar features may be cross wired to the classification channels corresponding to the main input representations for further improving the accuracy of the classification output. Because a single neural network architecture is used, only one, standard training technique is needed for this classification system, special data handling is minimized, and the training time can be reduced, while highly accurate classification is achieved.
