A light fixture includes a housing, a door assembly, and a lighting assembly. The housing can have a top wall, sidewalls, and a bottom opening. The housing can further define a plenum chamber between the top wall, the sidewalls, and the bottom opening. The door assembly can be removably attached to the housing adjacent the bottom opening. The lighting assembly can include at least one lighting module carried by the door assembly inside of the plenum chamber such that when the door assembly is detached from the housing, the lighting assembly can be at least partially removed from the plenum chamber. The door assembly can include a door frame and an optical arrangement carried by the door frame. The optical arrangement can be configured to allow light generated by the lighting assembly to be emitted from the light fixture.

A lighting fixture and method of providing lighting is provided herein that utilizes both direct and indirect light sources. The direct and indirect light sources can be provided in arrays of light emitting diodes (LEDs) oriented along desired axes. In some versions, the light fixtures described herein include a direct lighting array having one or more LEDs oriented to project light downwardly and an indirect lighting array having a plurality of LEDs oriented to project light in a transverse direction. Further, the light fixtures can include an indirect lighting member configured to be illuminated by the plurality of LEDs of the indirect lighting array. Additionally, or alternatively, the light fixtures described herein can include one or more controllers that are configured to independently operate the direct and indirect lighting arrays. Moreover, the indirect lighting array can be configured to emit light in a plurality of colors to visually convey information.

A luminaire with uplighting and downlighting capabilities is provided. According to one aspect, the luminaire may include a housing, a light source disposed in the housing, and a lens. The light source may be configured to emit light in a downward direction, and the lens may at least partially cover the light source. An opening may be formed in a top part of the housing and may permit light reflected by an interior surface of the lens to be transmitted in an upward direction from the housing. Optionally, a transparent or translucent cover member may at least partially cover the opening in the top part of the housing.

A luminaire that includes a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs), a light diffuser having a planar surface facing the LEDs, and a reflector that surrounds a cavity formed between the light diffuser and the LEDs. Also disclosed is a method of distributing light that involves emitting light towards a light diffuser having a planar surface having a reflective coating, scattering a first portion of the light with the light diffuser, reflecting a second portion of the light with the light diffuser, reflecting the second portion of the light with a first reflective surface back towards the light diffuser, and scattering the second portion of the light with the light diffuser. Further disclosed is another method of distributing light that involves emitting light toward a light diffuser and reflecting a portion of the emitted light toward the light diffuser via a reflector.

LED luminaire tertiary optic system

A luminaire with a light pipe assembly and related methods of assembly are provided. According to one aspect, the luminaire may include a housing and lens covering an opening formed in the housing. A light source may be disposed in the housing and configured to emit artificial light in a forward direction toward the lens. The light pipe assembly may span at least a portion of a distance between the lens and the light source, and may be configured to transport ambient light rays present in an environment outside of the housing to a location within the housing isolated from the artificial light.
