A method is provided for thermally processing waste to produce steam and generate energy while minimizing air pollutants in a staged thermal reactor. The method includes gasifying the waste to convert the waste to a fuel gas and a substantially carbon free, inert, granulated, sintered mineral ash and reforming the fuel gas auto-thermally to minimize creation of nitrogen oxide when the fuel gas is combusted. The method further includes burning the reformed fuel gas to minimize creation of nitrogen oxide in a flame region of a fuel gas burner and recirculating cooled flue gas to control oxygen content and temperature during the reforming operation and the burning operation. In one example, reforming the fuel gas converts non-molecular nitrogen species into molecular nitrogen in an auto-thermal non-catalytic reformer unit by decomposition reactions promoted by a prevailing reducing gas atmosphere.

Method for reducing NOx emissions from gasification power plants

A method is provided for thermally converting non-radioactive combustible wastes to a substantially non-hazardous, non-leachable, sintered particulate carbon-less ash by-product in a kiln having a plurality of reaction zones. The kiln including first and second ends and a body provided between the first and second ends that defines a cavity having a refractory lining that provides resistance to heat conduction. A processor and flow rate controllers are provided that control a flow rate through the body of waste that enters at the first end of the kiln and the flow rate of oxidant gas that enters at the second end of the kiln, the second end being opposite to the first end. The body may be positioned substantially horizontal and may include a length-to-diameter ratio and a resistance to heat conduction that provides a temperature gradient within the cavity to forms separate reaction zones during operation.

A shielded coaxial termination device includes a center conductor having a front end and a barrel encircling the center conductor. The barrel includes a front end and an annular sidewall defining an interior configured to receive and electrically couple with a coaxial post. A shield, having a front end and an opposed rear end, is mounted to the barrel so as to deploy from a retracted position toward an advanced position to radially cover the center conductor when the barrel is not fully installed on a coaxial post.

Post-less coaxial cable connector with compression collar

An apparatus is provided that receives waste and generates electrical power or thermal energy with minimal NOx emissions. A gasifier is provided that receives the waste and air to produce fuel gas for delivery to a fluidly coupled reformer. The reformer receives the fuel gas, recycled flue gas, and air to auto-thermally produce a reformed fuel gas and destroy fuel gas pollutants at a first temperature without a catalyst. A burner is fluidly coupled to the reformer and receives recycled flue gas and air to oxidize the reformed fuel gas at a second temperature that prevents nitrogen oxide formation, the second temperature being lower than the first temperature. A quench chamber is fluidly coupled to the burner and receives flue gas from the burner for quenching with recycled flue gas. A heat recovery system is fluidly coupled to the reformer, burner, and quench chamber to extract usable energy.

System and method for reducing NOx emissions from gasification power plants

A polarity-inverting telecommunication tap includes a backplate having an input port, an output port, and terminal posts. The input and output ports communicate a signal having a signal polarity. The tap also includes a faceplate having a tap port and having sockets corresponding and complemental to the terminal posts. The tap port communicates a tap signal having a tap signal polarity. The tap further includes an adapter plate disposed between the backplate and faceplate. The adapter plate has an electrical circuit which inverts the tap signal polarity with respect to the signal polarity, so that downstream CATV devices may operate with an intended polarity.

Systems and techniques for intelligent pathway access control are described herein. A destination for an object and a reason the object is traveling to the destination may be obtained. A pathway may be established between a current location of the object and the destination using an electronic map of locations between the current location and the destination based on the reason the object is traveling to the destination. A set of access control features may be identified along the established pathway. A time window for arrival may be calculated for each access control feature of the set of access control features. The object may be allowed passage through an access control feature of the set of access control features based on a proximity of the object to the access control feature and a respective time window for arrival for the access control feature.

Intelligent pathway access control

A jumper sleeve configured to be installed on an outer side of a male F-connector to facilitate easy connection of and maintain ground continuity across the male F-connector and a female F-connector. In one embodiment, a conductive element is installed on an inner surface of the jumper sleeve and conductively engages an outer surface of the male F-connector to maintain ground continuity across the male and female F-connectors.

Coaxial cable continuity device

A coaxial cable connector includes an inner barrel having a longitudinal axis, a front end, a rear end, and a compression band between the front and rear ends. A compression collar is mounted to the inner barrel for axial movement over the inner barrel from a retracted position to an advanced position. An inner post of the connector has opposed front and rear ends, and the front end of the inner barrel is carried at and on the rear end of the inner post. In response to axial movement of the compression collar over the inner barrel, the compression band compresses inward. When a cable is applied to the connector and the compression collar is moved axially forward over the inner barrel, the connector is permanently secured to the cable.

A method is provided of thermally processing carbonaceous ash and ancillary carbonaceous material to produce a carbon-free inert, pozzolanic, or cementitious material and synthesis gas. The carbonaceous ash and ancillary fuels are fed into a thermal reactor along with oxides provided in the ash or in additives including limestone or glass. Carbon in the ancillary fuel and coal fly ash is converted to synthesis gas that is combusted to generate process steam and electricity. Remaining ash exits the thermal reactor chamber for processing at high temperature in a kiln gasifier to react the remaining fixed carbon and produce carbon-free partially-fused nodules or clinker that are cooled and ground to a desired fineness for cementitious or aggregate material in concrete. Carbonaceous ash, especially high carbon coal fly ash and other carbonaceous waste, are converted to energy and non-toxic, carbon-free aggregate or cementitious material used as architectural fill or in concrete mixes.

Method and system for reprocessing high carbon coal fly ash to produce cementitious materials

The present disclosure describes various embodiments of devices for preparing cables, such as devices for pulling back the shield on an end portion of a coaxial cable to prepare the end portion for attachment to a connector. A coaxial cable, with an exposed central conductor, a dielectric insulator, and a shield (e.g., a metallic shield) can be inserted into a bore of a shield pull-back device configured in accordance with the present disclosure. As the cable is inserted into the bore, one or more gripping members can engage the cable shield and pull it back evenly without damaging the central conductor or the dielectric insulator.

A torque application device according to aspects of the present invention comprises (1) a collar for engaging a fastener, (2) a grip coupled to the collar, the grip preferably configured to magnify torque applied to it and to transfer all or part of the magnified torque to the collar, and (3) a slip mechanism to help avoid applying more than a predetermined, maximum amount of torque. The device may further include an indicator (such as a visual, audible and/or tactile indicator) to indicate when a predetermined maximum torque has been reached.

A torque application device according to the present invention comprises a collar for engaging a fastener, a grip coupled to the collar such that a predetermined maximum torque can be applied to the collar to tighten the fastener, and a slip mechanism to prevent the likelihood that the maximum torque is exceeded. The device may further include an indicator (such as a visual, audible and/or tactile indicator) to indicate that the predetermined maximum torque has been applied.
