A retaining collar is disclosed for a bayonet mount comprising a rotor disc having a male mounting member defining a pair of apertures and an auxiliary annular wheel defining a plurality of mounting slots. The retaining collar comprises a ring-shaped body and a pair of retention pins. The ring-shaped body has a pair of circumferential end portions separated by a circumferential gap, and an arcuate radial outer surface extending circumferentially between the end portions. The body is dimensioned so that the radial outer surface frictionally engages a radial inner surface of a cylindrical male mounting member in the bayonet mount. The pair of retention pins each extend radially outward from one of the circumferential end portions. Each of the retention pins are dimensioned to extend radially outward from the body through one of said apertures and one of said mounting slots.

In accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure, a gas turbine engine is presented. The engine has at least one turbine stage and each stage has a turbine disc concentric with the axis of the engine. The turbine disc has a turbine arm positioned axially from the disc and rigidly attached thereto. The drive arm is also concentric with the turbine axis and has an outer surface. The turbine stage also has a cover plate concentric with the turbine axis and covering at least a portion of the turbine disc. An arrangement of turbine blades are positioned around the periphery of the disc and are retained on the turbine disc at least partially by the cover plate. The system includes a spanner nut, and threads on a portion of the turbine drive arm. The spanner nut is threaded onto the turbine arm which applies an axial force on the cover plate, thereby retaining the cover plate.

A rotor stack assembly and method of assembling same. The rotor stack assembly comprises a tie bolt, at least one rotor disk, and a stub shaft. The rotor disk and stub shaft are carried by the tie bolt. The stub shaft is threadably engaged with a threaded end of the tie bolt and comprises a rotatable seal member and an engagement surface for contacting the rotor disk. Engagement of the stub shaft with tie bolt allows for tensioning and pre-loading of the tie bolt to desired levels.

A gas turbine engine is provided. The engine has an axis and a plurality of coaxial turbine discs, including a first disc and a second disc. A face of the first disc is disposed opposite to a face of the second disc. The engine also has a cover plate coaxial with the axis covering the second disc. The second disc includes an arrangement of turbine blade inserts positioned around its periphery. This arrangement is concentric with the plurality of turbine discs. Turbine blade inserts are retained on the second disc at least in part by the cover plate. The engine further comprises a coaxial tie bolt extending through the plurality of coaxial turbine discs, a spanner nut on the end of the tie bold, an arm coaxial with the axis extending from the face of the second disc having a distal end an axial stop extending from the face of the first disc. The distal end is in contact with the axial stop. The axial stop retains the axial movement of the second disc. The cover plate extends axially between the axial stop and the second disc and radially between the arm and the periphery of the second disc.

System and method to retain a turbine cover plate between nested turbines with a tie bolt and spanner nut

An improved gas turbine cover plate assembly is disclosed for use in connection with segmented cover plates in turbine configurations where it is not possible to stagger the blades to create assembly clearance. The improved turbine assembly also avoids cover plate loading slots in the disc which can cause high stress features. The improved system also includes a method to axially retain segmented cover plates in relation to a turbine disc using a segmented retainer ring.

A gas turbine engine disk split retainer ring system is provided and includes an apparatus and method for retaining a split ring in relation to a turbine cover plate or disk. Pegs are used to capture and retain a split retainer ring of the gas turbine rotor in relation to the cover plate. An anti-rotation peg has a radially oriented tab for engaging the split ring so as to control the rotation of the ring. The system may be used to balance the operating condition of a turbo machine.
