A continuously variable transmission (CVT) clutch is provided that includes a CVT gearing control assembly that is configured to move a movable sheave of the CVT clutch axially on a post independent of movement caused by a reactive assembly of the CVT clutch. A slave cylinder housing of the CVT gearing control assembly forms an oil chamber that includes a plurality of slave push piston cylinders. A slave push piston is received in each slave push piston cylinder in the slave cylinder housing. Each slave push piston is in operational communication with an engaging member that is configured to selectively engage and move the movable sheave. An actuator assembly adjusts pressure to selectively move the slave push pistons.

Continuously variable transmission clutch with movable sheave actuator

A uniform clamp actuated shift infinitely variable transmission system is provided that includes a drive clutch and a driven clutch. Both the drive clutch and the driven clutch include torque sensitive assemblies. In particular, the drive clutch includes a drive torque sensitive assembly that is in operational communication with a movable drive sheave member of the drive clutch. The drive torque sensitive assembly is configured to move the movable drive sheave member in relation to a fixed drive sheave member based at least on torque applied to the drive torque sensitive assembly. The driven clutch includes a driven torque sensitive assembly that is in operational communication with a movable driven sheave member of the driven clutch. The driven torque sensitive assembly is configured to move the movable driven sheave member in relation to a fixed driven sheave member based at least on torque applied to the driven torque sensitive assembly.

Uniform clamp actuated shift infinitely variable transmission system

A primary clutch of a continuously variable transmission with a launch mechanism is provided. The primary clutch includes a central post, a fixed sheave assembly, a movable sheave assembly and a locking mechanism. The central post is configured to receive rotational torque from a motor. The fixed sheave assembly is statically mounted on the central post. The movable sheave assembly is mounted on the central post. The movable sheave assembly includes a movable sheave system that is configured to move axially on the central post towards the fixed sheave assembly as RPM of the primary clutch increase. The locking mechanism is configured and arranged to selectively prevent movement of the movable sheave system independent of the RPM of the primary clutch.

Launch assist mechanism for a continuously variable transmission

A drive clutch including a primary post, a fixed sheave, a movable sheave, an activation assembly is provided. The fixed sheave is statically coupled to the primary post. The movable sheave is slidably mounted on the primary post. The activation assembly is in operational communication with the movable sheave to move the movable sheave on the primary post away from and towards the fixed sheave based on a centrifugal force experienced by the drive clutch. The activation assembly includes a spider, at least one trunnion slidably mounted on a spider arm and a main activation biasing member. The at least one trunnion has opposable extending trunnion arms. A roller is rotationally mounted on each trunnion arm. Each roller is positioned to engage a ramp profile associated with a sheave post extending from the movable sheave. The main activation biasing member is positioned to assert a biasing force on the spider.

Drive clutch a CVT

A clutch is provided that includes a fixed sheave portion, a movable sheave portion, a movable sheave assembly, an idler bearing and a torque drag member. The movable sheave assembly is configured to axially move the movable sheave portion in relation to the fixed sheave portion in response to a change in a rotational speed of the clutch. The idler bearing is rotationally mounted on a central post of the fixed sheave portion. The idler bearing is positioned to engage an inside face of a belt when the fixed sheave portion and the movable sheave portion are located a select distance away from each other. The torque drag member is operationally coupled to exert a select amount of torque drag on the idler bearing.

A continuous variable clutch is provided. The continuous variable clutch includes a first sheave member and a second sheave member. The first sheave member includes a first central hub and a first conical-faced surface extending radially from the first central hub. The second sheave member includes a second central hub and a second conical-faced surface that extends radially from the second central hub. The second central hub of the second sheave member is received in a cavity of the first central hub such that the first conical-faced surface of the first sheave member facing the second conical-faced surface of the second sheave portion. The second central hub moving axially within the first central hub based on an amount of torque on the continuous variable clutch. The first sheave member and the second sheave member further forming a central passage to receive an input shaft of a transmission.
