The computing device may be connected to a device, where an event has occurred. The device may send a message to the management software of the computing device based on the event, where the message includes information corresponding to an event occurred at the device and payload data of the event. When the management software receives the message, the management software may determine an event type of the event based on the information, and then convert the payload data of the event to encoded payload data in an extensible format, such as the JSON format. Thus, the management software may generate and store an event log comprising the event type and the encoded payload data.

Systems and methods for determination of a policy in a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) system. The system includes a virtual machine (VM) server providing VMs, and a VDI controller connected to the VM server. When the VDI controller receives a login request by a user from a computing device, the VDI controller authenticates the login request, and controls the VM server to assign one of the VMs to the computing device. In doing so, the VDI controller may obtain user information corresponding to the user and device information corresponding to the computing device based on the login request, and retrieve VM information of the VM being assigned to the computing device. Then the VDI controller may determine, from a plurality of policies, a specific policy for the user based on the user information, the device information and the VM information to define permission states of functionalities provided by the VM.

A first device of the computer system provides a service interface for retrieving stored service request templates for executing actions on a computing pod. The first device retrieves the service request template from a data store in accordance with information provided by the template request. If X is greater than M, the virtual desktop controller controls the virtual machine server to execute some instances unexecuted VMs as the spare VMs on the hypervisor, such that S instances of the spare VMs are available to provide efficient user login.

Certain aspect of the present disclosure relates to a power management system. A detection device generates detection signals based on detection of a plurality of user identification (ID) devices, and sends the detection signals to a power management controller. For each of the user ID devices being detected, the power management controller retrieves the corresponding user ID, and determines a user ID device presence event based on the received detection signals. In response to determining the user ID device presence event, the power management controller retrieves device IDs associated with the corresponding user ID of the user ID device from a database, and determine a target device based on the retrieved device IDs. Then the power management controller may power on or power off the target device based on the determined user ID device presence event and the power state of the target device.

An extensible management server (XMS) is disclosed that includes a management interface, a scripting engine, and a data store having management scripts and a management class library stored therein. The management interface provides functionality for receiving and responding to commands received from a management application. The management scripts include functionality for retrieving and setting management data on managed computers. The management scripts are configured to utilize classes contained in the management class library to perform the actual interaction with the managed server computers for retrieving or setting management data. The management scripts may also be configured to utilize a graphical display application programming interface for generating graphical display instructions for use by the management application in graphically displaying the management data.

A utility application may receive user input through the command line of a computer, such as receiving a product name and URL or an alias name, as well as a command to cause the utility to interact with the appropriate electronic information page on the network.

Methods and apparatus for utilizing scripts to interact with electronic information pages of remote devices

The present invention provides data structure, methods, and computer programs for storing text data used by a computer program to display information on a display terminal. Importantly, the present invention provides a data structure in which the data strings traditionally stored in the computer program are removed from the computer program and stored in the data structure. The data strings are associated with individual 16 bit identification numbers, called tokens, which are used to indicate the location of the data strings in the data structure. In light of this, the data strings are removed from the source code of the computer program and replaced with tokens that address the data strings in the data structure. As such, to display a data string, the computer program outputs a token associated with the data string and the command to display it to the display management module, and the data string is located in the data structure and displayed on the display terminal. The data structure may include not only ASCII characters, but also extended ASCII characters different from those used in the standard ASCII table and a double byte characters set (DBCS). As such, the data structure supports not only languages that use ASCII and extended ASCII characters, but also graphical languages that use DBCS characters. The data structure also includes font areas for storing font data associated with extended ASCII characters not displayable with the standard ASCII font set in the font module and DBCS characters. In one embodiment, the font area includes only font data for the DBCS characters that are used in the data strings stored in the data structure, thereby minimizing data storage.

The present invention provides systems, methods, and computer program products for redirecting the output of the computer program to a remote display terminal. The systems, methods, and computer program products of the present invention provide a method by which all text on a host system may be redirected and displayed at a remote location and representations of graphical images on a host system may be redirected and displayed at a remote location. The system of the present invention includes a display management module stored on a computer-readable medium in communication with an output of the computer program and the remote display terminal. Associated with the display management module are data modules containing text and graphical representation data used by the computer program to display information. The system of the present invention also includes an output redirection handler connected between the display management module and a data communication link to the remote display terminal. Connected to the opposed end of the communication link is a remote display handler for controlling the display of information on the remote display terminal. To redirect the display of information to the remote display terminal, the display management module receives commands to display text and graphical images from the computer program. Based on these commands, the display management module provides commands, text from the data modules, and data indicating size and position of the graphical images to the output redirection handler for displaying information on the remote display terminal. The output redirection handler formats the command and data for transmission across the data communication link, and the remote display handler receives the display data and controls the remote display terminal to display the information.

The present invention provides apparatus and methods for managing the display of data stored in a SMBIOS database. The apparatus and methods provide a template file intermediate between a SMBIOS utility program and a SMBIOS database. The template file includes all information required for interpreting and displaying the data structures stored in the SMBIOS database. The information in the template file is in the form of structure definitions including descriptor keys for describing the structure of the data and text to be displayed and control keys used by the utility program to navigate the template file. In operation, when commanded, the utility program retrieves data from the SMBIOS database, and using the Type and offset associated with the data, accesses information corresponding to Type and offset from the template file. Using the information from the template file, the utility program properly interprets and the displays to a user the requested information.

Apparatus and methods for managing the display of SMBIOS data relating to the configuration and components of a computing system

The present invention manages the display of information provided by a computer program on a display terminal. The invention provides a display management module that operates as an intermediate module between the computer program and the display terminal. The display management module interprets display commands from the computer program and controls the display terminal to display the desired information. Associated with the display management module are a group of data modules that include the text and graphical data used by the computer program to display information on the display terminal. To display information, the display management module receives a command from the computer program to display the information. Based on the command, the display management module retrieves the data from the data modules and displays the data on the display.
