A seat for a vehicle may include a seatback including an intermediate portion including a first portion having a first stiffness and a second portion including a second material different than a first material of the first portion, such that the seatback quickly couples an associated occupant and dissipates as much energy as possible. The intermediate portion may be configured such that as at least a portion of the back of an occupant of the seat pushes against a front surface of the seatback and the seatback is at least partially compressed, a reaction force from the seatback against at least a portion of the back of the occupant increases from a minimal reaction force to a first reaction force corresponding to a first displacement, and thereafter the reaction force decreases to a second reaction force as displacement of the front surface of the seatback further displaces.

A vehicle door actuator assembly includes a base plate having a first portion and a second portion, a first gear disposed proximate the first portion of the base plate, a second gear disposed proximate the second portion of the base plate, a third gear connected to the base plate, and a linkage engaging the first, second, and third gears. The base plate of the vehicle door actuator assembly is rotatable between a first position and a second position. As the base plate rotates between the first and second positions, the vehicle door actuator assembly maintains an outer surface of the vehicle door substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the vehicle at all points along a travel path of the vehicle door.

A system for a multi-directional roof cover system includes a vehicle comprising an opening in the top of the vehicle and a cover movably coupled to selectively cover the opening. The cover has a first end proximate a first end of the vehicle, a second end proximate a second end of the vehicle, lateral edges connecting the first end and the second end, and linkages coupling the lateral edges to the vehicle. The cover is actuatable, based on one or more conditions, between a first position in which the cover is closed and covers the opening, a second position in which the cover is open and the first end of the cover is raised relative to the second end of the cover, and a third position in which the cover is open and the second end of the cover is raised relative to the first end of the cover.

Multi-directional vehicle roof cover system

A system for detachably coupling subassemblies of vehicles or other components is discussed herein. The system can include one or more driveshafts and worm drives to drive fasteners to couple the subassembly to the vehicle. The system can enable module repair or replacement in conventional locations without any additional infrastructure by driving fasteners horizontally into the body or other subassembly. In this manner, fasteners can be hidden and to utilize blind holes in the body of the vehicle. The system can be partially disassembled in situ to enable parts replacement and fastener access in the event of a failure. The system can be used in conjunction with a robotic cart to enable subassemblies to be removed from the vehicle for service and repair. A portion of the system can also act as a portion of, or to reinforce, the crash structure of the vehicle.

Worm gear drive unit interface and assembly methods

The system can enable drive interfaces located in a substantially conventional location (e.g., located vertically on the bottom of the vehicle) to drive fasteners horizontally into the body or other subassembly. The system can be used in conjunction with a robotic cart to enable subassemblies to be removed from the vehicle for service and repair. A pill feeder accepts a quantity of pills and organizes the pills into a single file where each pill is output in a controlled orientation at a controlled rate. The apparatus includes a moving surface, such as a rotating disk, to receive and move pills past one or more gates that separate and orient groups of pills into a single file. The gates can start at a closed position and open until a pill has passed the gate. In one embodiment, a mixer counter-rotates relative to the rotating disk to prevent jams of the pills. The single file of pills is then guided out to an exit chute via an exit path. An alternative exit path provides an alternative route via which the pills exit the pill feeder. Multiple sensors can control the movement of the gates and the rate at which the pills exit the pill feeder.

Pill feeder

A pill feeder accepts a quantity of pills and organizes the pills into a single file where each pill is output in a controlled orientation at a controlled rate. The pill feeder includes a rotating disk, a rotating rim, a lift gate, a separator gate, and an exit path. The rotating disk receives and moves pills in a rotation direction about a surface of the rotating disk at a first angular velocity. The rotating rim that moves pills received from the rotating disk in the same rotation direction as the rotating disk. The lift gate raises a height above the surface of the rotating rim that permits passage of a single layer of the plurality of pills. A transition to an exit chute of the pill feeder provides a plurality of slopes to control the orientation of pills transitioning from the rim to the exit chute.
