Animated display characteristic control for digital images is described. In an implementation, a control is animated in a user interface as progressing through a plurality of values of a display characteristic. A digital image is displayed in the user interface as progressing through the plurality of values of the display characteristic as specified by the animating of the control. An input is received via the user interface and a particular value of the plurality of values is detected as indicated by the animating of the control. The digital image is displayed as having the particular value of the display characteristic as set by the input.

Techniques are disclosed for providing a scrapbooking function in electronic computing devices. The user can engage the scrapbooking function with a content sampling command that engages a scrapbook creation mode which virtually rips a digital content sample from a content source. The digital content sample may be displayed to the user with a torn edge, as if it had been physically torn from a magazine or catalogue. The content sampling command may be, for example, a swipe gesture, an S-gesture, or selecting a scrapbook UI control feature. The user may save the sampled content into a new scrapbook or save it to an existing scrapbook. The user may also engage the scrapbooking function by entering a scrapbook viewing mode which allows the user to view and edit existing scrapbooks. The content sample may include all encrypted data present in the digital content from which it is sampled.

Techniques are disclosed for a zoom view mode for use with digital content including multiple regions of interest. Regions of interest may include portions of viewable digital content (e.g., panels of a comic book). In some cases, the mode may be invoked using a zoom command (e.g., double tap) to zoom in on a region of interest. After the mode has been invoked, the user may shift from one region of interest to another using a shift command (e.g., swipe), along a shift path of motion. The shift path of motion may have a non-constant speed and/or non-linear shape (e.g., arc-shaped). In some cases, the shift path of motion speed may be defined by a non-linear easing function curve. In some cases, the mode may be configured to present an entire page when first shifting to a region of interest on that page, to provide overall context to the user.

Zoom view mode for digital content including multiple regions of interest

In publishing to a Web server, a set of placement rules are entered by a user. These placement rules set a location on the Web server for storing the various files supporting a request to publish to the Web server. Type identifiers, such as file extensions, Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) types, and the like, are used in the rules to assign certain types of files to the desired locations. When a developer or designer requests to publish to the Web server, all of the files supporting this publication request are read to determine their file type identifiers. Using the type identifiers, a location is assigned to each of the files that corresponds to the location assigned in the placement rules.
