Embodiments of the systems, devices, and methods described herein generally facilitate transmission and reception of activation data for use in activating a mobile device to operate with a server. In accordance with one example embodiment, an activation barcode is received from a server by reading an image comprising the activation barcode via a computing device, wherein the image is displayed on a display associated with the computing device, and wherein the activation barcode encodes activation data comprising an activation password. The activation barcode is decoded at the mobile device to obtain the activation password, and an authentication is performed using the activation password after a device activation request is transmitted to the server, wherein the mobile device is activated to operate with the server if the authentication is successful.

There is disclosed a system and method for automatically drafting blog entries. In an embodiment, the method comprises: defining a triggering event for generating a draft blog entry; detecting the triggering event; and upon detection of the triggering event, automatically generating a draft a blog entry in a predetermined format. The triggering event may comprise, for example, capturing an image, video clip, sound clip, or browsing a webpage having a URL on the wireless mobile device, and the method may further comprise automatically inserting the captured image, video clip, sound clip, or URL into the draft blog entry in the predetermined format together with automatically generated text. Some of the text may be generated in dependence upon the triggering event.

According to embodiments described in the specification, a method, system and apparatus for managing notification profiles is provided. The method comprises acquiring, at an image acquisition module of a portable electronic device, an image of a graphical indicator. The graphical indicator comprises a machine readable representation of data identifying one of the plurality of notification profiles. The method further comprises extracting from the image the data identifying one of a plurality of notification profiles maintained in a memory of the portable electronic device. The method further comprises selecting the one of the plurality of notification profiles corresponding to the extracted identifying data as an active notification profile.
