A graphical user interface for creating a data summary table includes a field pane including a list of a plurality of fields, and a layout pane including a plurality of zones. The zones represent areas of the data summary table, and the layout pane allows a field of the plurality of fields from the field pane to be added to a first zone of the zones. A data summary table is updated upon the field being added to the layout pane.

A method of conditionally formatting a display of data is disclosed that involves providing a preliminary display automatically showing the intended consequences of the condition applied to the data prior to making the condition actually apply to the data. This is especially useful in analysis of spreadsheet data by conditionally formatting certain data. The method involves identifying one or more parameters of the data to be conditionally formatted on the display, selecting a predetermined condition; and automatically applying temporarily the predetermined condition to the parameter(s), displaying a temporary preview on the display of the predetermined condition applied to data that meet the predetermined condition. The method also provides the capability to preliminarily change the conditions and parameters applied to the data and automatically provide appropriate previews of the effect of such application of changed conditions on the displayed data.

One click conditional formatting method and system for software programs

A 'new sheet button' is provided in a program, such as a spreadsheet, that utilizes a collection of tabbed sheets or a 'workbook.' The new sheet button is located adjacent the sheet tabs so that a user may add a new sheet to the workbook with a single button press. The new sheet may be added to the end of the workbook or immediately adjacent an active sheet within the workbook, among other options. Selecting the new sheet button with a default operation (such as a left mouse click) adds a blank sheet to the workbook. Selecting the new sheet button with a non-default activation (such as a right-click) generates a menu listing options for creating the new sheet, such as copying the contents of the active sheet.

The present invention provides a set of task-based helpers that automatically generate formulas that complete a task for the user. In one embodiment, the task helpers automatically create a formula from one or more functions that help complete more complicated tasks. The present invention also provides embodiments of user interfaces that help the user select the appropriate task helper and receive the discrete parameters of the formula for the task.

The present invention relates to new and improved embodiments of systems and methods for displaying content within a spreadsheet graphical user interface. In one embodiment, a computer system has a graphical user interface that performs a method for displaying data within a spreadsheet application. The method comprises displaying a formula bar comprising a text box that displays data contained in the spreadsheet, displaying a first portion of the spreadsheet data in the text box, and expanding the formula bar to display a second portion of the spreadsheet data in the text box.

One aspect of the present invention is a computer-implemented method for automatically completing formulaic cell data. The computer-implemented method includes a step for substantiating an autocomplete process in response to a user input of formulaic cell data and aggregating autocomplete options based on the user input. Another aspect of the present invention includes displaying a dynamic list of autocomplete options when the user input is a trigger.
