An acoustic device that has a neck loop that is constructed and arranged to be worn around the neck. The neck loop includes a housing with a first acoustic waveguide having a first sound outlet opening, and a second acoustic waveguide having a second sound outlet opening. There is a first open-backed acoustic driver acoustically coupled to the first waveguide and a second open-backed acoustic driver acoustically coupled to the second waveguide.

Acoustic device

An acoustic device includes an acoustic assembly that defines a first acoustic volume. The acoustic assembly includes at least one passive radiator in acoustic communication with the first acoustic volume. A first electro-acoustic driver is configured to acoustically energize the first acoustic volume so as to drive the piston in oscillatory motion. The acoustic device also includes a housing within which the acoustic assembly is disposed. The housing has a curved inner surface. The passive radiator has a curvature which conforms to the curvature of the curved inner surface of the housing so as to reduce unused space between the at least one passive radiator and the curved inner surface of the housing.

A loudspeaker, amplifier, media source, user interface, and mechanical interface are all contained in a single unit. The unit has a first portion configured to mount in a vehicle radio mounting location and a second portion configured to extend significantly outside the vehicle radio mounting location.

Integrated vehicle audio system

The invention features a dual-mode audio system for an automobile which in one mode is configured for play while the doors to the automobile are closed, and in a second mode, is configured for play while a door, such as a tailgate, is opened. Additionally, the invention also features a battery monitor which monitors the operating condition of the battery and may estimate the energy capacity of the battery. The system may also take power conservation measures if the system determines that the engine is not running or the operating condition of the batter reaches a predetermined state. The invention also features a remote control integrated within a key fob for controlling the audio system. The invention features various orientations for mounting a pair of loudspeakers within an automobile which directly radiate sound out of a rear opening of the automobile.

Automobile audio system

A loudspeaker driver has a plastic basket having front and rear portions. The front portion is formed with six radial ribs extending between a central motor cup support and an annular rim. A cup-shaped front pole piece is molded into the pole support and formed with an axial groove for accommodating an axial lead extending from the front end of a voice coil that moves axially in a gap between the circumferential wall of the front pole plate and a circular rear pole plate and circular disk neodymium disk magnet sandwiched between the rear pole plate and the closed end of the front pole plate. Flat tinsel leads are crimped to ends of the voice coil and brought out through slits in the cone to terminals in opposite sides of the rear portion of the basket. The circumferential edge of the cone is clamped between the front and rear portions of the basket and ultrasonically bonded to an annular surface on the rear of the front portion. The rear end of the cone is cemented to the rear of the voice coil support just forward of where the spider collar is fastened to the voice coil support. The circumferential edge of the spider is ultrasonically bonded to a depressed annular rim at the rear of the rear portion of the basket.
