The device pertains to providing side shift force control using load cell force feedback in the web slitting industry. Further included is a removable means of providing the load cell force feedback without integrating the load cell with the side shift mechanism. This provides for easy maintenance of the blade cartridge and specifically the cutting blade.

Side shift force control

The invention pertains to automatically addressing devices on a network. The controller tests each address from a list of available addresses. If the control device receives a response the corresponding address is eliminated from the list of available addresses. The control device sends an arming signal which is received by all participating devices. The devices prepare for a triggering signal. When the trigger signal is received each device waits a random amount of time. During this time each device looks for communication on the bus, if communication is detected the device quits timing and remains unaddressed, if not it sends a signal to the control device to accept the address.

Bus auto-addressing system

An optical target system is provided for facilitating a vehicle operator's effecting alignment of the respective hitch assembly components of a towing vehicle and a towed vehicle. The system includes first and second targets that are removably positionable in referencing relationship to respective ones of the hitch assembly components and a viewing mirror that is removably positionable on the towed vehicle to provide the vehicle operator positioned in the towing vehicle with a reflected view of the two targets. Each of the two targets includes a longitudinal guidance element that is disposed in alignment with the longitudinal axis of its respective vehicle and a transverse guidance element that is transversely oriented to the respective longitudinal guidance element and located above the hitch assembly component to provide a visual reference to a vertical axis extending through those components.

A method and apparatus for cable support and guidance for use on a high elevation outdoor lighting system in which luminaires, for servicing and inspection, are lowered from an operating position at the top of a pole to a position at the base of the pole. A series of rollers are mounted at the pole top to support and guide the passage of a luminaire, elastomer-jacketed power cable which, during raising and lowering of the luminaires, moves in a path that extends vertically through the interior of the pole, over the roller arrangement and vertically to the luminaires on the exterior of the pole.

An auxiliary assembly for use with an apparatus which raises and lowers a luminaire support ring along a support pole and which supports the ring during this movement is disclosed herein. The apparatus includes a main drive, a main cable connected to the drive and a plurality of secondary cables connecting the main cable and therefore the main drive to the luminaire support ring. The auxiliary assembly includes an auxiliary supporting arrangement connected with the main cable of the apparatus whereby to support the ring in the event there is a failure of either the main cable or the main drive to support the ring. This assembly also includes a device for automatically and substantially immediately sensing the presence of such a failure and for automatically providing a predetermined signal at substantially the moment of failure. In addition, the assembly includes a device which cooperates with the auxiliary supporting arrangement for at least slowing down, preferably stopping, movement of the luminaire support ring in response to the failure indicating signal.
