In various embodiments, an apparatus to recognize an appliance state may include a sensor data module to identify sensor data in one or more signals relating to data from one or more sensors associated with an appliance, an appliance state recognition module to determine an appliance state of the appliance based at least in part on the sensor data, a response module to determine a response based at least in part on the appliance state, and a transmission module to send the response to at least one of an appliance controller for the appliance or a presentation device. Technologies for managing the health of livestock include one or more livestock health sensor systems configured to determine livestock health data of livestock animals. The livestock health data includes livestock health characteristic data indicative of a health characteristic of the corresponding livestock animal associated livestock identification data that uniquely identifies each livestock animal. The livestock identification data is received by each livestock health sensor system from a livestock identification tag coupled to the corresponding livestock animal. Each livestock health sensor system transmits the determined livestock health data to a livestock health monitoring server, which aggregates the livestock health data for each livestock animal and analyzes the health data to determine whether any abnormalities are present. If so, the livestock health monitoring server may control a livestock treatment device to provide treatment to the corresponding livestock animal on a per-animal basis.

Technologies for managing the health of livestock

Systems, apparatuses and methods may provide for determining, at runtime, one or more deviations of a peripheral device from a common interface based on one or more configuration files and translating one or more communications between the peripheral device and an application in accordance with the one or more deviations. In one example, a level of quality of a product dispensed by a system containing the peripheral device may be determined based on the communications. Moreover, a failure of the system may be predicted based on the communications.

Universal controller to support remote monitoring of system and/or machine health

Technologies for edge device object recognition include a server and one or more edge devices in communication over a network. The server maintains an object recognition database that stores images associated with a plurality of objects. The server identifies a subset of the objects that is expected to be recognized by each of the edge devices and generates a reduced object recognition database for each edge device that includes the corresponding subset of images. Each edge device monitors for device events and, in response to a device event, performs object recognition using the corresponding reduced object recognition database. The edge device may transmit thumbnail images of unrecognized objects to the server. The edge device may be coupled to a product storage device such as a cooler or retail shelf, and device events may include sensor events such as door open or door closed events.
