A method of measuring the thickness of an ophthalmic lens includes forming an ophthalmic lens over a convexly curved surface of a forming optic, the ophthalmic lens including a light absorptive component, and with the ophthalmic lens remaining over the convexly curved surface of the forming optic, measuring the thickness of the ophthalmic lens using information about the light absorptive component of the ophthalmic lens and an intensity reference value associated with the forming optic. The method includes passing light having a wavelength through the ophthalmic lens and the forming optic, whereupon the light absorptive component of the ophthalmic lens absorbs some of the light passing through the ophthalmic lens. The light passing through the ophthalmic lens and the forming optic, which is not absorbed by the light absorptive component of the ophthalmic lens, is used to generate an image having pixel intensity data.

Systems and methods of using absorptive imaging metrology to measure the thickness of ophthalmic lenses

The present disclosure pertains to a method for 3D or multi-viewer projection of images. The method switches back and forth between left and right eye or multi-viewer data at single bit segment or multiple bit segment rates in a single projected image to create high quality 3D stereo or multi-viewer imaging with no motion artifacts.

A method of measuring the thickness of an ophthalmic lens includes providing an ophthalmic lens having a light absorptive component, and passing light having a wavelength through the ophthalmic lens whereupon the light absorptive component absorbs some of the light as the light passes through the ophthalmic lens. After the light has passed through the ophthalmic lens, the light is used to generate a digital image for the ophthalmic lens that has pixel intensity data that corresponds to the shape of the ophthalmic lens. Information about the light prior to passing through the ophthalmic lens, the light absorptive component of the ophthalmic lens, and the pixel intensity data is used to calculate a thickness profile for the ophthalmic lens.

A data processing system comprising a transpose system configured to receive video ordered pixel data and to generate bit plane blocks of data. A write buffer configured to receive the bit plane blocks of data and to generate bit plane data frames. A memory controller configured to receive the bit plane data frames and to write a first bit plane data frame to a memory while simultaneously reading a second bit plane data frame from memory. A read buffer configured to receive the second bit plane data frame and to convert the second bit plane data frame to a digital display device format.

Bit plane memory system

The present disclosure pertains to a method for designing cascaded bit sequences for cascaded digital displays. The method avoids unwanted interactions between cascaded sequences in cascaded digital displays. By using sequences with a particular structure, cascaded sequences can be designed such that no sequence is affected by the others. The following rules must be followed in constructing the sequence. First, the display devices must be frame-locked, so that the timing relationship between the sequences is maintained throughout each frame. Second, for each display device, the ratio of bit plane weights must remain constant, regardless of the pixel data displayed on the other display device(s). Third, the amount of bit plane skew must remain constant, regardless of the pixel data displayed on the other display device(s). Fourth, bit plane phased leakage must be compensated for or avoided.

Cascaded bit sequences in display systems

In accordance with the teachings of the present invention, a system and method for bit stream compatible local link encryption are provided. In particular embodiments of the present invention, the method includes generating a random number stream using an active line count of a frame of video as an input to a first random number generator in a playback server; encrypting data at the playback server based upon a first deterministic mapping between the first random number stream and the data, wherein the first deterministic mapping prevents the generation of prohibited codes; transporting the encrypted data from the playback server to a digital video projector; generating a second random number stream using the active line count of the frame of video as an input to a second random number generator in the digital video projector; and decrypting the encrypted data at the digital video projector based upon a second deterministic mapping between the second random number stream and the encrypted data.

System and method for bit stream compatible local link encryption

In accordance with the teachings of the present invention, a system and method for transporting an ancillary data packet in the active area of a video stream are provided. In particular embodiments of the present invention, the method includes coupling a playback server and a digital video projector with a DVI link; placing an ancillary data packet of link encryption metadata in a false line of video in an active area of a frame of video at the playback server, a remainder of the active area comprising true lines of video; transmitting the ancillary data packet from the playback server to a digital video projector through the DVI link; extracting the ancillary data packet from the frame of video at the digital video projector; and displaying the remainder of the active area of the frame of video at the digital video projector.

A method for driving at least one shutter glass lens having a property of light retardation that is variable at least according to the wavelength of the light passing through it, the shutter glass lens having an LC cell driven to a relatively 'on' or a relatively 'off' state according to a voltage applied across it. According to various illustrative embodiments, a device, system, and method for reducing stereoscopic phase-lag distortion under motion in a 3-dimensional video display are described. In one aspect, a method comprises reducing a phase difference between a first image and a second image in a portion of a frame time of the 3-dimensional video display. The method also comprises redistributing respective bit sequences of at least portions of the first image and the second image by respective amounts arranged to effect the reduction of the phase difference between the first image and the second image. The method also comprises displaying the redistributed respective bit sequences of the portions of the first image and the second image during the frame time of the 3-dimensional video display.

Method for reducing stereoscopic phase-lag distortion under motion in a 3-dimensional video display

In accordance with the teachings of the present invention, a system and method for displaying stereoscopic digital motion picture images are provided. In a particular embodiment of the present invention, the method includes receiving at a digital video projector one or more frames of left-eye data and one or more frames of right-eye data, receiving at the digital video projector an input reference signal indicating whether each frame of data comprises left-eye data or right-eye data, receiving at the digital video projector a display reference signal indicating whether left-eye data or right-eye data should be projected at a particular time, and projecting the left-eye data and right eye data, as indicated by the display reference signal, separated by periods of dark time. In another embodiment of the present invention, the method includes receiving at a digital video projector one or more frames of left-eye data and one or more frames of corresponding right-eye data, receiving at the digital video projector an input reference signal indicating whether each frame of data comprises left-eye data or right-eye data, projecting the corresponding frames of left-eye data and right eye data separated by periods of dark time, and transmitting from the digital video projector an output reference signal indicating initiation of the periods of dark time.

In accordance with the teachings the present invention, a system and method for transporting video data through a dual-link HD-SDI connection is provided. In a particular embodiment of the present invention, the method includes coupling a digital video projector and a playback server with a dual-link HD-SDI connection, the dual-link HD-SDI connection having four 10-bit subchannels; dividing 12-bit, 4:4:4, RGB video data into four 9-bit sections; mapping each 9-bit section of video data into nine least significant bits of a respective one of the four 10-bit subchannels; setting a most significant bit of each 10-bit subchannel to be a compliment of a next most significant bit of the 10-bit subchannel; and transporting the sections of video data from the playback server to the digital video projector through the dual-link HD-SDI connection.
