A traffic control monitoring and abnormality determination system and associated methods are disclosed for receiving and analyzing traffic controller input/output data during a learning phase to determine a model indicative of normal or healthy operation of the traffic controller in regulating traffic flow at an intersection and receiving and evaluating additional traffic controller input/output data against the model during an evaluation phase to determine whether an abnormality exists in operation of the traffic controller. If an abnormality is detected during the evaluation phase, the system may initiate a corrective action to resolve the abnormality such as sending an alarm signal to a traffic controller to cause the traffic controller to alter an operating state to resolve the abnormality.

Real-time monitoring and diagnostic processing of traffic control data

A design matrix structure visualization technique and tool for the study and analysis of systems, such as software systems, where the bounds of the matrix are defined by a selected focusing metric and entities forming the system are displayed in the matrix as blocks of size relative to their proportion of the selected focusing metric. Relationships between entities are illustrated by summing all relationships between individual elements forming each displayed entity. Where possible, an identifier defining the characteristic of a displayed block is also shown. Preferably, the technique and tool includes a 'zoom' feature to allow a user to drill down and uncover details associated with smaller blocks as shown in the original view.

Augmented design structure matrix visualizations for software system analysis

A configuration operation set for configuring a system element is tested by simulating execution of the control operation set with simulation sample test data. The configuration operation set is received via a configuration user interface in a configuration view. Simulation sample test data is received via a simulation user interface in a simulation view. The configuration view and the simulation view may be simultaneously viewed on a display. In a single session, a control operation set may be received, simulation sample test data may be received, a simulation may be run, and the results of the simulation may be viewed. If the results of the simulation agree with expected results, the control operation set may be saved, and executed in the system element of interest. If the results of the simulation do not agree with the expected results, the control operation set may be cancelled.
