Processes for producing a hydrogen-enriched gas stream are described. A hydrocarbon containing feed is processed in a hydrogen production process unit, and the synthesis gas formed is subjected to a water gas shift reaction. The shifted synthesis gas is sent for processing to recover hydrogen and carbon dioxide. The hydrogen and carbon dioxide recovery processes involve separating a purified hydrogen product stream and a purified carbon dioxide stream from the shifted synthesis stream and recycling synthesis gas to the reforming feed after recovery of COand H, thereby avoiding carbon slip from the process and lowering the overall carbon intensity.

Method of recovering a hydrogen-enriched product and COin a hydrogen production unit

Processes and apparatuses for operating a centrifugal gas compressor. A storage tank containing a liquid buffer material is provided and used to offset density fluctuations in the gas stream passed to the compressor. The storage tank may contain a component of the high-pressure gas stream provided by the compressor, such as carbon dioxide.

Processes and apparatuses for operating a gas compressor

Processes and apparatuses for recovering a high purity carbon dioxide stream. A first separation zone that may include a cryogenic fractionation column provides the high-purity COstream. A vapor stream from the cryogenic fractionation column is passed to a second separation zone to separate the COfrom the other components. The second separation zone may include a pressure swing adsorption unit or a solvent separation unit. The second separation zone provides a hydrogen enriched gas stream that may be used in a gas turbine. The second stream from the second separation zone includes carbon dioxide and, after a pressure increase in a compressor, may be recycled to the first separation zone.

Apparatuses and processes for the recovery of carbon dioxide streams

A bio-renewable conversion process for making fuel from bio-renewable feedstocks is combined with a hydrogen production process that includes recovery of CO. The integrated process uses a purge gas stream comprising hydrogen from the bio-renewable hydrocarbon production process in the hydrogen production process.

Integrated hydrogen production and bio-renewable conversion process

A three-product PSA system which produces three product streams from a feed gas mixture comprising a light key component, at least one heavy key component, and at least one intermediate key component is described. The three-product PSA system produces a high pressure product stream enriched in the light key component, a low pressure tail gas stream enriched in the at least one heavy key component, and an intermediate pressure vent gas stream enriched in the at least one intermediate key component.

Three-product pressure swing adsorption system

A Fischer-Tropsch (FT) process with a hybrid membrane/PSA configuration provides high component recoveries from FT off gas with minimum power consumption. Synthesis gas from a synthesis gas production zone is reacted in an FT reaction zone forming a liquid stream and an off gas stream. The off gas from the FT reaction zone, which contains hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and methane reactants, is recycled to the synthesis gas production zone. A purge stream from the recycle loop is sent to a membrane separation unit where it is separated into a permeate stream and a residue stream. The residue stream is separated in a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) unit into a fuel gas stream and a second stream. The second stream can be compressed and recycled to the synthesis gas production zone.

Method for making liquid hydrocarbons

A process and apparatus for producing a hydrogen-enriched product and recovering COfrom an effluent stream from a hydrogen production process unit are described. The process utilizes a COrecovery system integrated with a PSA system that produces at least two product streams to recover additional hydrogen and COfrom the tail gas stream of a hydrogen PSA unit in the hydrogen production process.

Method of producing a hydrogen-enriched product and recovering COin a hydrogen production process unit

A process and apparatus for producing a hydrogen-enriched product and recovering COfrom an effluent stream from a hydrogen production unit are described. The effluent from the hydrogen production unit, which comprises a mixture of gases comprising hydrogen, carbon dioxide, water, and at least one of methane, carbon monoxide, nitrogen, and argon, is sent to a PSA system that produces at least two product streams for separation. The PSA system that produces at least two product streams separates the gas mixture into a high-pressure hydrogen stream enriched in hydrogen, optionally a second gas stream containing the majority of the impurities, and a low-pressure tail gas stream enriched in COand some impurities. The CO-rich tail gas stream is compressed and sent to a COrecovery unit, where a CO-enriched stream is recovered. The CO-depleted overhead gas stream is recycled to the PSA system that produces at least two product streams.

Method of recovering a hydrogen enriched product and CO2 in a hydrogen production unit

Processes for reducing carbon monoxide levels in a carbon dioxide rich gaseous stream. The carbon dioxide rich stream is passed to a preferential oxidation zone to selectively convert carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide. Excess oxygen is consumed by reacting with hydrogen, which may be added or controlled based on PSA operating conditions upstream of the preferential oxidation zone. The preferential oxidation zone may be contained within a bed of a dryer.

Processes and apparatuses for reducing carbon monoxide levels in a gaseous stream

The process removes hydrogen sulfide from hydrotreated gas by TSA. Hydrogen sulfide adsorbs on the adsorbent while allowing hydrogen in the hydrotreated gas to pass the adsorbent to provide a desulfided hydrogen gas stream and a sulfided adsorbent. A regenerant gas stream can be contacted with the sulfided adsorbent at a swing temperature to desorb hydrogen sulfide from the adsorbent into the regenerant gas stream. The regenerant gas stream can then be recycled to a hydrotreating reactor for processing biorenewable feed to provide hydrogen sulfide to the reactor. The desulfided gas stream can be purified to remove impurities such as carbon oxides and recycled to the hydrotreating reactor and/or used as the regenerant gas stream.

Process for producing diesel fuel from a biorenewable feed with recycled sulfur from temperature swing adsorption regenerant

An adsorption process is provided to remove oxygen from a hydrogen stream through the use of a copper material in combination with layers of adsorbent to remove water and nitrogen from a hydrogen stream. This process is particularly useful for purification of hydrogen product gas from water electrolyzers with the hydrogen product gas having greater than 99.9 mol % purity.

Process for removing oxygen from a hydrogen stream

A pressure swing adsorption process is provided to remove oxygen from a hydrogen stream through the use of a copper material in combination with layers of adsorbent to remove water, C2 and C3 hydrocarbons, as well as other impurities. The feed gas comprises more than 70 mol % hydrogen, at least 1 mol % methane and more than 10 ppmv oxygen. The purified product hydrogen stream comprises greater than 99 mol % hydrogen, with less than 1 ppmv oxygen.

Process of treating a net gas stream is disclosed. The process includes sending the net gas stream to a compressor to produce a compressed gas stream. The compressed gas stream is then sent to a pressure swing adsorption unit to produce a hydrogen product stream and a tail gas stream. Tail gas stream from the pressure swing adsorption unit is sent to a first membrane unit to produce a first permeate stream and a first non-permeate stream. Portion of the tail gas stream is sent to a second membrane unit to produce a second permeate stream and a second non-permeate stream.

A system that is used for the treatment of a net gas stream is disclosed. The system includes a compressor to produce a compressed gas stream from a net gas stream. The compressor is connected to a pressure swing adsorption unit where the net gas stream is separated to produce a hydrogen product stream and a tail gas stream. Tail gas stream from the pressure swing adsorption unit is sent to a first membrane unit to produce a first permeate stream and a first non-permeate stream. A portion of the tail gas stream is sent to a second membrane unit to produce a second permeate stream and a second non-permeate stream.
