An endless electrophotographic member, such as a developer roller, which indicates an improved resistance to nip banding. The improvement to nip banding may be provided by the use of an organic salt within a roller surface region. The roller may provide, at a nip location, a resistive surface layer having an electrical resistance that avoids the development of nip banding and relatively dark regions on printed media.

An apparatus and process are provided for forming a tubular article. A tube holder is mounted to a support stand via an automatic alignment device. A tubular metal sleeve is placed in the tube holder. A coating material is provided. A bullet-shaped or spherical element is passed through the metal sleeve such that the element runs along an inner circumferential surface of the metal sleeve. The automatic alignment device allows the metal sleeve and the tube holder to level themselves such that the element is substantially aligned with the metal sleeve as the element moves through the metal sleeve. The element spreads the coating material generally evenly along the inner circumferential surface of the metal sleeve as the element passes through the metal sleeve.

Process and apparatus for forming a tubular article

A fuser roll adapted to fuse toner on the surface of a recording medium is disclosed. The fuser roll includes a non-metallic core having an outer surface, and a resistive heating element covering at least a portion of the outer surface of the core. A current transmitter is provided for transmitting a current to said resistive heating element, and an insulation layer is provided for covering at least a portion of said resistive heating element. A toner release layer is provided for covering at least a portion of said insulation layer.

The present disclosure relates to chemically processed toner that makes use of aqueous dispersions of release agent and/or pigment and solutions of a polymeric resin binder. The polymer solution may be prepared in an organic solvent wherein the organic solvent has some level of solubility in water. The polymer solution may then be combined with an aqueous dispersion of pigment and/or release agent which dispersions may include an aqueous polyelectrolyte and/or an aqueous dispersion of colloidal particles. This may be followed by agglomerating and forming particles of toner of a desired number and/or volume average particle size and/or degree of circularity.

Chemically prepared toner and process therefor

A method for making toner particles having reduced toner charge transfer sensitivity when used in electrophotographic printers. The method includes preparing a dispersion of pigment, a fuser release agent, and a polymeric dispersant. The polymeric dispersant has a hydrophilic polymeric segment and at least one segment selected from the group consisting of a protective colloid segment and reactive surfactant segment. The polymeric dispersant also has a weight average molecular weight ranging from about 5,000 to about 30,000 as determined by gel permeation chromatography, and a hydrophobicity ranging from about 10 to about 90 percent by weight. The dispersion is mixed with a latex binder dispersion to provide a toner mixture. The toner mixture is agglomerated while stirring the mixture at an elevated temperature to provide toner particles.

An inkjet ink composition having a binder including an aqueous dispersion of polymer particles, the polymer including, as polymerized units, (a) from 0 to 1 wt. % monoethylenically unsaturated acid monomer, based on polymer weight; and (b) monomer of the formulaCH&#x2550;C(R1)&#x2014;CON(R2)(R3)wherein R1&#x2550;H, CHor CHand R2 and R3 are independently selected from C1-C6 saturated alkyl and cycloalkyl groups; and wherein the total of (a) and (b) is at least 0.1 wt % monomer based on the polymer weight. The binder may be a copolymer of ethyl acrylate and acrylamide. An inkjet ink composition including the inkjet ink binder, a colorant, and a liquid medium is also provided.

An inkjet ink composition having a binder including an aqueous dispersion of polymer particles, the polymer comprising as polymerized units from 3 to 20 wt. % monoethylenically unsaturated acid monomer, based on polymer weight, and having a glass transition temperature (Tg) in the range of from &#x2212;40&#xb0; C. to 120&#xb0; C., and the polymer particles having a volume average particle diameter as measured by dynamic light scattering of at least 35 nanometers greater than the weight average particle diameter as measured by capillary hydrodynamic fractionation is provided. An inkjet ink composition including the inkjet ink binder is also provided.

Rolls having a polyurethane elastomer formed from a polyurethane mixture, wherein the polyurethane mixture comprises polydiene, tri-functional polyol curative, an additional graft polymer curative having a molecular weight of at least about 800 and comprising diol, polyol, diamine, polyamine or a combination thereof, conductive modifier, antioxidant, and hydrolytic stabilizer. Methods of forming such rolls include casting the polyurethane mixture, followed by curing, then demolding, grinding to desired dimensions and baking such that the outer layer of the cured roll is oxidized.

Polyurethane elastomers are formed from first and second graft curatives, each graft curative having a molecular weight of at least about 800, wherein the first and second graft curatives are substantially immiscible with one another, and wherein the polyurethane elastomer exhibits a hardness of less than about 40 Shore A according to ASTM D2240-86 and a compression set of less than about 8% according to ASTM D395-89, method B, at a temperature of about 70&#xb0; C. for about 22 hours. Rolls are manufactured using such polyurethane elastomers, particularly rolls that are suitable for use in image forming devices, such as electrophotographic print applications.

A chemically prepared toner for electrophotographic printers and method therefor using a unique polymeric dispersant. The chemically prepared toner includes agglomerated polymeric dispersant stabilized pigment particles, a fuser release agent, a charge control agent dispersion, and a self-stabilized essentially surfactant free latex binder. The polymeric dispersant includes at least three segments, a hydrophilic polymeric segment, a hydrophobic polymeric segment, and a protective colloid or reactive surfactant segment. The chemically prepared toner includes agglomerated toner particles have a unimodal particles size distribution with a number average particle size (N) ranging from about 5.0 to about 8.5 microns and a volume average particle size (V) ranging from about 5.0 to about 8.5 microns.
