An apparatus, method and system for cannulation of blood vessels. The apparatus comprises a sensor assembly including two linear transducer arrays oriented perpendicular to each other to form a 'T' shape to provide ultrasound images of at least one blood vessel in a portion of a patient's body in two perpendicular planes. The sensor assembly may have graphic markings on an exterior surface thereof to facilitate orientation of the sensor assembly on the patient and guidance of a needle toward a desired target vessel during the cannulation procedure. The sensor assembly may also include an associated structure to cooperate with a reference location element to place, align and secure the sensor assembly to the patient's skin at a desired location.

Multiplanar ultrasonic vascular sensor assembly, system and methods employing same, apparatus for movably affixing a sensor assembly to a body and associated methods

An apparatus is provided for cannulation of blood vessels. The apparatus comprises a sensor assembly including two linear transducer arrays oriented perpendicular to each other to form a 'T' shape to provide ultrasound images of at least one blood vessel in a portion of a patient's body in two perpendicular planes. The sensor assembly includes a housing having a graphically marked surface to facilitate orientation of the sensor assembly on the patient and guidance of a needle toward a desired target vessel during the cannulation procedure. The housing is configured to engage a frame element having a pair of wings extending laterally therefrom, the wings each bearing a magnet to cooperate with a reference location element secured to a patient's skin and bearing magnetically responsive shims thereon to place, align and secure the sensor assembly to the patient's skin at a desired location.

The apparatus comprises a sensor assembly including two linear transducer arrays oriented perpendicularly to each other to form a &ldquo;T&rdquo; shape to provide substantially simultaneous ultrasound images of at least one blood vessel in a portion of a patient's body in two perpendicular planes. The apparatus may also include one or more Doppler transducer elements to transmit and receive one or more Doppler beams at an incident angle beneath one of the transducer arrays and in alignment therewith to determine blood flow direction and velocity within the at least one blood vessel. The sensor assembly may be disposed within an elongated, flexible, protective sheath and secured to a graphically marked cover to facilitate orientation of the sensor assembly on the patient and guidance of a needle towards a desired target vessel during the cannulation procedure. The cover may also include associated structure to cooperate with a reference location element to place, align and secure the sensor assembly to the patient's skin at a desired location.

Ultrasonic vascular imaging system and method of blood vessel cannulation

Object measuring and weighing apparatus and method for determining conveyance speed

A method and apparatus for ensuring accuracy of weight measurement of objects on a conveyor and providing security against pilferage or miscoding of the objects. A series of sensors such as photocells linked to a process control unit sense passage of objects to respectively activate a scale and cubing system associated with the conveyor, to release an additional object for weighing and cubing, to sense overlong objects exceeding the length of the scale, and to detect when an object has been stolen or otherwise removed (as by falling off) the conveyor between various locations through the use of programmed timing 'windows' between the various sensors. If an object does not trigger a sensor within the window measured from passage past a preceding sensor, an error message is generated.

Object detection apparatus and method

An in-motion measuring system for determining the length and width of linearly-moving cuboidal objects through the use of object speed, the times during which six light beams oriented across the path of the object are obstructed by the object, and the angles of the light beams with respect to the direction of object movement. The height of an object may also be determined through use of a vertically-extending light curtain with horizontally-oriented light beams, or via an ultrasonic sensor.

In-motion dimensioning system and method for cuboidal objects

A method and apparatus for measuring the dimensions and determining the three-dimensional, spatial volume of objects, particularly small objects. Reflected laser light sensors are employed. A stationary measurement embodiment of the apparatus may be employed to measure regular cuboidal objects. A dynamic or in-motion embodiment may be employed to measure the dimensions of cuboidal objects or a three-dimensional outline of objects of irregular configuration.

An autocalibration method for ultrasonic sensors is also disclosed.

Measuring method and apparatus

A method and apparatus for measuring the dimensions and determining the three-dimensional, spatial volume of objects. In the preferred embodiment, a light curtain and ultrasonic sensing are employed in combination with the travel time of linearly moving objects to ascertain object dimensions. The preferred embodiment is particularly suitable for measurement of moving, rectangular objects of random orientation with respect to the direction of travel.
