Provided herein are embodiments of a barbell spotting apparatus having all the benefits of a free-floating, unconstrained barbell in both the horizontal and vertical axes with the safety of a dedicated spotting mechanism, while addressing safety, noise, and space concerns raised by typical barbell apparatus. The embodiments herein permit a loaded barbell to be positioned in line with the axis of motion of the lift to be performed at both the beginning and end of the lift.

Embodiments of the present invention provide robust capacitive grip sensors that may be used in a variety of applications, including single-handed and double-handed grips, such as but not limited to barbells. Apparatus as disclosed herein and efficiently measure the presence of a human grip without requiring deformation of a gripped surface area.

A side-discharge muzzle brake includes a body, which includes an attachment portion and multiple ports located in the wall of the body. The side-discharge muzzle brake further includes a sleeve sized to slide over a portion of the body and to be rotatable around the body. The sleeve includes multiple openings. The side-discharge muzzle brake includes a securing assembly that allows that sleeve to be rotatable around the portion of the body in two directions for a full 360 degrees of rotation.

A selective call device (130) has a receiver (204) for receiving information at a first rate and a switch (229, 230) for selecting a streaming mode for providing the information. A processor (210) for determining when the streaming mode is selected, and in response thereto, creates a buffer (221, 222) for retaining the information. The processor (210) transfers the information from the buffer (221, 222) at a second rate for a display (228) to present the information that is transferred from the buffer (221, 222) as a continuous stream.
