A system and method for helping a user carrying a smart device to maintain safe distances from other persons during an epidemic or a pandemic. A portable smart device measures the approximate distance to persons in the vicinity of the user, and notifies the user whenever he or she is too close to other persons. The portable smart device may overlay augmented reality graphics (such as arcs, lines, text, numbers, or other graphics) over images captured by the smart device's camera, to indicate safe distances. The graphics serve to inform and/or warn the user that he or she may be getting too close to other persons.

Systems and methods for virtual physical distancing

Techniques are described for authenticating an individual based at least partly on a tremor signature of the individual. Motion data is collected through motion sensor(s), such as accelerometers, gyroscopic motion sensors, and so forth, of a portable computing device that is being held, worn, or is otherwise in contact with the user. Based on the collected motion data, a tremor signature may be determined and compared to a previously determined model for the user, and an authentication determination may be made based on the comparison. The tremor signature may be used in combination with other information to authenticate the user. For example, the tremor signature may be used in combination with location information and/or other biometric data such as a fingerprint scan, image of the user's face, audio recording of the user's voice, the user's heartbeat, a cardiac electrical signature, bio-electrical impedance, and so forth.

Authentication based on motion and biometric data

Disclosed herein are a method, system, and computer-readable storage medium with instructions for recommending locations to a user. Preferred criteria may be selected by the user, for example, or a third party, and provide objective or subjective information that the user is seeking in a location. Embodiments may include compiling objective information with the location and comparing the objective information to preferred criteria. A user's profile may be compared to an other person's profile, where the other person's profile is associated to the location. A location may be recommended to the user if the objective information correlates to the preferred criteria and if the other person's profile correlates to the user's profile. Subjective information associated with the location may be provided to the user along with the recommended location. Furthermore, a location may be recommended to the user if the subjective information correlates to the preferred criteria.

Systems and methods for a home area recommender

A system for automated house damage detection and reporting may comprise at least one subsystem configured for receiving a damage detection signal detecting potential damage to a building from at least one sensor operably connected to the building, and at least one subsystem configured for automatically communicating damage detection data using the received damage detection signal to a remote system outside the building for further analysis.
