Example implementations relate to virtual persistent volumes. In an example, a virtual persistent volume storage class is presented to a container orchestrator that includes parameters describing an associated virtual storage policy. In response to a provisioning request that identifies the virtual persistent volume storage class, a virtual persistent volume is created by determining a mapping of the parameters of the virtual persistent volume storage class to parameters of available storage classes so that the parameters of the virtual persistent volume storage class are fulfilled. At least one volume is provisioned to constitute the virtual persistent volume, according to the mapping.

Virtual storage policies for virtual persistent volumes

Example implementations relate to virtual persistent volumes. In an example, a storage virtualization system receives performance metrics related to usage of a virtual persistent volume by a containerized application. The performance metrics are identified in an application data store profile, and the application data store profile is identified based on an application manifest of the containerized application. The virtual persistent volume is modified based on an analysis of the performance metrics.

Modifying virtual persistent volumes based on analysis of performance metrics

Example implementations relate to virtual persistent volumes. In an example, a manifest of a containerized application to which a virtual persistent volume is allocated is read from a container orchestrator. An application data store profile that matches information of the manifest is identified from among a plurality of application data store profiles that each include storage parameters preconfigured for a respective application type. The virtual persistent volume is modified according to the identified application data store profile.

Example implementations relate to virtual persistent volumes. In an example, a storage operation request includes a volume identifier. A volume mapping that corresponds to the volume identifier is identified. Underlying volume identifiers are identified based on the volume mapping. The underlying volume identifiers relate to underlying storage volumes that form at least part of a virtual persistent volume associated with the volume identifier. The storage operation request is relayed, using the underlying volume identifiers, to storage systems on which the underlying storage volumes are respectively located.

Example implementations relate to virtual persistent volumes for containerized applications. In an example, a plurality of different storage mounts are acquired from a mix of storage types. A containerized storage virtualization system creates and manages a virtual persistent volume that aggregates the acquired storage mounts. A mount point of the virtual persistent volume is provided to the containerized application. The virtual persistent volume includes a hierarchical structure that relates data objects of the containerized application by content-based signatures to a root object.

Virtual persistent volumes for containerized applications

A primary (e.g., master) file system stores multiple files and corresponding metadata. A view generator function receives template information (e.g., view configuration information) specifying types of metadata information associated with the multiple files stored in the primary file system. Based on processing of the metadata information in the primary file system as specified by the template information, the generator function produces metadata for inclusion in a secondary file system, which is used to satisfy search inquiries associated with the multiple files stored in the primary file system. According to one arrangement, the generator function replicates metadata information in the primary file system as specified by the template information for inclusion in the secondary file system. The secondary file system can include metadata from other sources as well that produced by the generator function. The secondary file system enables more efficient handling of search inquiries than applying search inquiries to the master file system.

File system management with enhanced searchability

A system and method for reducing latency when re-routing at least partial client communications from a first, active data center site to a second data center site due to a virtualization service disruption. Configuration data is imported from the first file virtualization device, wherein the configuration data represents object relationships and mapping information between components in the first data center site and the second data center site. An instruction is received for the back-up file virtualization device to begin handling at least one virtualization service that is disrupted at the first data center site. A most recent import of the configuration data is loaded for the one or more disrupted virtualization services and enabled such that the back-up file virtualization device performs the disrupted virtualization service with one or more storage devices in the second data center site using the at least a portion of the imported configuration data.

System for mitigating file virtualization storage import latency

A method, computer readable medium, and a system for reconstituting a virtual snapshot of files in a file virtualization system includes forming at a file virtualization device a virtual snapshot that includes a plurality of physical snapshots associated with one or more file storage devices participating in the virtual snapshot, receiving a request for performing an operation on one or more physical snapshots in the plurality of physical snapshots, providing the one or more physical snapshots in response to the request for performing the operation when the one or more physical snapshots exists in the virtual snapshot, and reconstituting the virtual snapshot by including the one or more physical snapshots to form a reconstituted virtual snapshot in response to the request for performing the operation when the one or more physical snapshots do not exist in the virtual snapshot.
