A rock bolt includes a central rod, a tubular outer body provided around the central rod, and an expansion mechanism arranged for radially expanding the leading portion of the outer body. The rock bolt is arranged such that the outer body at installation is pulled into a bore of a formation from the leading portion of the outer body using a driving force applied via the central rod.

A rock bolt includes a wedge-based expansion mechanism. The expansion mechanism includes a drive wedge arranged to expand an intermediate wedge upon tensioning of the rock bolt, wherein the intermediate wedge is arranged to expand a wedge device attached to an outer tube of the rock bolt. The use of the intermediate wedge enables greater expansion of the rock bolt.

Double-wedge rock bolt

A rock bolt for installation within a bore formed in rock strata having an elongate shaft with the leading end for installation into the bore and a trailing end projecting from an open end of the bore. A locking nut is threadably attached to the trailing end and is arranged to display product information and the like at a display face. The display face is recessed axially into the nut to provide protection against damage to the display face that may otherwise render the information unreadable.

A friction rock bolt assembly is arranged to frictionally engage an internal surface of a bore formed in rock strata. The rock bolt includes an expander mechanism having at least two radially outer wedge elements engageable by an inner wedge element. The expander mechanism is configured for symmetrical displacement of the expander elements to provide controlled enlargement by the rock bolt within the borehole for secure anchorage.

A rock bolt arranged for installation within a bore formed in rock strata includes an elongate shaft with the leading end for installation into the bore and a trailing end projecting from an open end of the bore. A system for monitoring a status of attachment of a ground engaging tool (GET) at a mining, earth moving or rock processing machine. The system includes providing GET with at least one proximity sensor configured to sense a proximity of the GET relative to a mount region of heavy machinery to which the GET is mountable. The proximity sensor is configured to generate proximity data that is transmitted from the GET via a wireless communication pathway to a receiver located remote from the GET with the receiver configured to output in real-time the attachment status of the GET. The present system is advantageous to identify partial detachment or loosening of a GET so as to prevent undesirable GET loss and contamination of extracted or processed raw material.

A friction rock bolt assembly is arranged to frictionally engage an internal surface of the bore formed in rock strata. The rock bolt includes a loading mechanism provided at a rearward end of the rock bolt having a load absorber to absorb an initial predetermined loading force followed by transfer of the force to a main load element.

A rock bolt and meshing assembly is arranged for installation of a meshing sheet against a surface of rock strata. The rock bolt includes an adapter having a first portion connectable to a trailing end of an elongate shaft of the rock bolt and means configured to receive and mount a meshing clamp to overlay a second section of meshing sheet against an already laid first section of meshing sheet.

A friction bolt assembly to frictionally engage a bore formed in rock strata. The assembly includes an elongate tube and an expander mechanism acted on by an anchor mechanism via an elongate bar or cable. A retainer mechanism is mounted to act between the bar or cable and the tube to prevent ejection of the bar or cable from the assembly should the bar or cable break.

A retainer mechanism is mounted to act between the bar or cable and the tube to prevent ejection of the bar or cable from the assembly should the bar or cable break.

A connector, an associated dynamic testing system and method for testing rock bolts or rock anchors in situ. The connector is attached to a rock bolt/anchor and supports a hanging load via a shaft. The connector has a body of two halves retaining upper first and lower second connectors having respective curved surfaces. Each of the two halves has a curved inner surface allowing limited relative rotational movement of the first and second connectors relative to the two halves when a load is applied. A load cell and accelerometer register the load applied to the rock bolt/anchor through the connector and any resulting movement of the rock bolt/anchor.

Device, system and method for dynamic testing of ground support bolts, anchor bolts or rock bolts

A friction bolt for frictionally engaging the internal surface of a bore includes a circular tube, which is split longitudinally, and which has a leading end and trailing end. An expander mechanism is disposed within the tube towards the leading end. An elongate bar/cable is disposed within the tube and extends between the expander mechanism at one end and an anchor arrangement at the other end. The bar/cable extends through a ring attached to the trailing end into connection with the anchor arrangement. A restrainer member is disposed within the tube adjacent the ring and extends at least partially about and in engagement with the bar/cable. The tube has a weakened region adjacent the ring and the restrainer member extends longitudinally within the tube past the weakened region. The restrainer member includes a projection that projects through the longitudinal split of the tube for engagement with the bore.
