A flexible light assembly includes an elongated light transmissible jacket, the jacket including an internal vacancy. The assembly includes a substrate disposed in the internal vacancy. The substrate supports light emitters on a first surface thereof, and includes a reinforcing layer that is fixed to a surface the substrate opposite the first surface. The jacket may also include reinforcing fibers. The flexible light assembly is sufficiently flexible to permit bending such that the flexible light assembly can assume a radius of curvature in a range of 1.3 centimeters to 10.2 centimeters.

Cutting tool

A lighting device includes a housing that supports a flexible light assembly and can be operated in multiple configurations. The housing includes a cup-shaped opaque stator and light transmissive rotor that rotates relative to the stator. The rotor includes a spool upon which the flexible light assembly can be wound. The light source is configurable between a retracted configuration in which the flexible light assembly resides in the housing and light emitted by the flexible light assembly is transmitted through the rotor, and an extended configuration in which a portion of the flexible light assembly resides outside the housing. In the extended configuration, a portion of light emitted from the flexible light assembly is transmitted through the rotor and another portion of light emitted from the flexible light assembly originates outside the housing.

A method for ensuring safety critical functionality for a laser engraver includes obtaining a command from a laser motor controller; obtaining sensor data from a plurality of sensors, the sensor data corresponding to an operating status of various components of the laser engraver; determining a functioning status for each component; and as a result of determining the functioning status for all of the components, enabling supply of power to a laser, where the method is performed by a safety controller that is embodied in hardware completely separate from hardware in which the laser motor controller is embodied. One example required functioning status is that a power button has been selected twice in quick succession.

A foot for use in supporting a hand-held oscillating power tool on a workpiece includes a plate defining a recess for supporting the body of the power tool at a desired angle relative to the workpiece. The foot includes a plurality of roller elements mounted to the plate and adapted for rolling engagement with the workpiece as the foot is navigated along the surface of the workpiece while performing a cut. An adjustable support may be provided to adjust the angle of the power tool relative to the workpiece.

An accessory tool for an oscillating tool includes a first metal plate and a second metal plate fixed together to form a body having a first end portion formed by the first metal plate and a second end portion formed by the second metal plate. The first end portion defines a linear cutting edge, and the second end portion defines a drive interface for mounting the accessory tool onto a tool holder of an oscillating tool. The second metal plate includes an overlapping portion that overlaps a portion of the first metal plate. A dust collection system for a rotary power tool, which has a flexible shaft connected to a handpiece, includes a vacuum blower configured to generate a negative pressure and a connecting hose defining a first void region fluidly connected to the blower and which has the negative pressure. The connecting hose is configured to extend along a first length of the flexible shaft. The dust collection system further comprises a nozzle portion defining a second void region fluidly connected to the first void region and which has the negative pressure, the nozzle portion being configured to extend along a second length of the handpiece.

A power tool includes a housing, an output shaft, and a tool holder connected to the output shaft. A rotor assembly is attached to the output shaft that is configured to be acted on by a fluid flow through the housing to cause rotation of the output shaft. A centrifugally movable fluid flow governor is coupled to the output shaft that is configured to move outwardly from the output shaft to alter a force acting on the rotor assembly when the output shaft reaches a predetermined speed.

A nose portion of the housing defines an air flow inlet for the air flow channel. The foot attachment includes a shroud portion that extends from the nose portion of the housing and surrounds a working space in front of the nose portion of the housing. The shroud portion defines at least one tangential opening that directs air flow into the shroud portion along a tangent such that a vortex is generated within the working space.
