A system and method for testing a test vehicle or a system on the test vehicle for warning the presence of an object proximate the test vehicle or a system to avoid a collision includes a self-powered, independently movable target configured to be positioned proximate the test vehicle, the target comprising a support frame having wheels, a motor operably coupled to one or more wheels, brakes operably coupled to each wheel and a control system coupled to the motor, brakes and wheels and configured to control acceleration, braking and steering of the wheels, and a collision avoidance system operable with the control system and configured to control the target to avoid a collision with the test vehicle.

Test method and system using a highly agile ground vehicle for intelligent vehicle testing

A tire testing machine includes a tire and wheel assembly having a sensor configured to measure a parameter related to the tire and wheel assembly as it rotates on a rotating element. A holder supports the tire and wheel assembly. A processor is configured to receive an input at least based on the output signal from the sensor, and provide an output signal indicative of a parameter of a contact patch between a tire of the tire and wheel assembly and the rotating element. Controlled element(s) are configured to vary a parameter related to the contact patch and/or friction.

A platform balance includes a first frame support and a second frame support movable relative to the first frame support. At least one counter balance assembly is provided to support the static weight of the first frames support and elements connected thereto. The counterbalance assembly includes a beam and a pivot assembly allowing the beam to pivot. A weight is selectively positionable on the beam. A compliant assembly is supported by the beam on a portion thereof on a side of the pivot assembly opposite the weight. The compliant assembly supports the first frame support. The compliant assembly includes a second pivot assembly and a planar motion assembly coupled to the second pivot assembly.
