A rectal medication administration device includes a tube, a balloon, a first valved port, and a second valved port. The tube includes a first lumen, a second lumen, and a plurality of holes extending from the first lumen therethrough. The balloon is proximal to the holes, is in communication with the second lumen, and is configured to be inflated to hold the tube in place within a patient's rectum. The first valved port is in communication with the first lumen and opens when connected to a first syringe or infusion set to provide medication transmission therethrough and closes when the first syringe or infusion set is withdrawn. The second valved port is in communication with the second lumen and opens when connected with a second syringe or infusion set to provide fluid to inflate the balloon and closes when the second syringe or infusion set is withdrawn.

An apparatus for liquefying solid pills includes a grinder configured to grind the solid pills to a powder, a receptacle configured to attach to the grinder and to capture the powder, and a cap configured to attach to the receptacle. The cap includes a port therethrough in fluid connection with the receptacle. The port is configured to mate with a tip of a syringe.

Method and apparatus for preparing liquid suspensions and solutions from medications in pill or tablet form

A connector system includes a catheter connector port to attach to a urinary catheter, a urine exit port to connect to a urine collection device, an irrigation port to receive an irrigation syringe, and an internal valve. The irrigation port includes a pliable membrane that has a self-sealing opening to allow a tip of the syringe to extend therethrough. The internal valve cooperates with the syringe to shut off flow of fluid to the urine exit port when the syringe is inserted and allow for flow of fluid to the urine exit port when the syringe is removed. A distance between a proximal surface of the membrane and a distal end of the internal valve is such that the tip of the syringe can extend from a proximal end of the self-sealing opening to the distal end of the internal valve.

An enteral administration assembly for administering fluids through an enteral device. The administration assembly comprising an inlet, an outlet, and a valve mechanism between the inlet and outlet. The inlet is configured to interlock with only an enteral device to form a sealed connection allowing the passage of fluid between the enteral device and the inlet. The assembly may include a valve or turbulating mechanism comprising a valve and at least one turbulator adapted to change the direction of fluid flowing through the assembly to prevent clogging and flocculation of administered substances.

Valved enteral administration assembly

A urinary catheter connector system having a housing; a catheter connector port supported by the housing and configured to attach to a urinary catheter; a urine exit port supported by the housing and configured to connect to a urine collection device; an irrigation port supported by the housing and configured to receive an irrigation syringe; a channel in the housing fluidly connecting the catheter connector port, the urine exit port and the irrigation port; and a valve supported by the housing and adapted to cooperate with the irrigation syringe to shut off flow of fluid and air to the urine exit port when the irrigation syringe is inserted and allow for flow of fluid and air to the urine exit port when the irrigation syringe is removed. The invention also includes methods of using the system.

Apparatuses and methods for medication administration via a body cavity. In one aspect, a medication administration device includes: a tip portion having a plurality of holes and a balloon defining a balloon cavity. When the balloon is deflated the tip portion can be inserted into a body cavity, such as the rectum, to allow medication delivery through the holes in the tip portion. When inflated, the balloon can prevent the tip portion from being withdrawn from the body cavity and/or hold dispersed medication within the body cavity. The device further includes a port portion that has a first port and a second port, and an elongated tubular portion that is coupled between the tip portion and the port portion. The tubular portion has a first lumen connecting the first port to the plurality of holes in the tip portion, and a second lumen connecting the second port to the balloon cavity.

A method of delivering medication to a patient includes inserting a medication administration device into a rectum of the patient, inflating a balloon of the medication administration device to retain the medication administration device in the rectum, delivering a first dose of a medication through the medication administration device such that the first dose of medication is applied to a distal portion of the rectum, delivering a second dose of a medication through the medication administration device such that the second dose of medication is applied to the distal portion of the rectum, and leaving the medication administration device in the rectum until it is dislodged for defecation. The first and second doses are delivered without removing the medication administration device from the rectum between doses.
