Settling devices for separating particles from a bulk fluid with applications in numerous fields. The particle settling devices include a stack of cones with a small opening oriented upwardly or downwardly. The cones have an interior surface that is convex. These devices are useful for separating small (millimeter or micron sized) particles from a bulk fluid with applications in numerous fields, such as biological (microbial, mammalian, plant, insect or algal) cell cultures, solid catalyst particle separation from a liquid or gas and waste-water treatment.

A toothbrush system has a stem and an integrated paste dispenser disposed in a protective case. The stem may be manually advanced from the protective case to position a brush head for use. While the stem is being advanced, the integrated paste dispenser delivers a line of toothpaste along the top of the brush head bristles so that the toothbrush can be deployed and the toothpaste applied to the bristles in a single step.

A tape measure with a utensil holding device for holding a variety of elongated utensils for cutting, scoring, marking and scribing incorporating a quick release clamping cam and a threaded adjustment means with a substantially forceful tape brake utilizing a lever and cams to securely lock the tape at a specified measurement. The utensil holding device and tape brake are so configured as to be assembled with the parts on either side of the tape measure to accommodate individual preferences; the utensil being available on one side of the tape or the other; the tape brake lever on either side of the tape measure housing.

A pet bed having an upright column removably attachable at one end to the edge of a desk top, table top or other similar horizontal surface. The support column extends vertically upward from the desk top and supports a horizontal support member at an elevated position above the desk top. A cushion is attached to the support member and substantially covers an upper surface thereof, providing a comfortable resting place of an animal. The column is eccentrically attached to the support member and the support member is rotatable in a plane normal to the vertical axis of the column permitting the support member to be rotated above the desk top into a position where a maximum portion of the support member is positioned above the desk top and through various positions until a minimum portion of the support member is positioned above the desk top. The support member and attached cushion are removable from the column and can be used in a remote position as a self-supporting, free standing pet bed.

An integrated recoiling tape measure with an integral marker secured thereto by a marker holder. The marker holder is uniquely designed to be attached to the side of the tape measure, and is angled in a first direction such that the pencil tip extends forward to the tape holder, and is also angled laterally inward toward the tape itself and proximate the graduations thereof for easy and convenient marking of the material proximate the tape graduations. The present invention achieves technical advantages by allowing a workman to measure and mark and a material with one hand, thus freeing the other hand for holding the material or other tools.
