A method, computer program product, and system are described. The method comprises receiving payment information, receiving a communication from an electronic device of a user, wherein the communication comprises a token that corresponds to the combination of the user and the electronic device. The method further comprises transmitting, to a payment processor of a payment network, the token and an identifier of the electronic device that is derived from the communication. The method further comprises receiving, from the payment network, a payment authorization that indicates that the token and the identifier of the electronic device were previously registered with an issuer corresponding to the payment information.

Authorizing payments using pre-registered customer tokens

A self-checkout (SCO) terminal in a retail store controls banks of lights to communicate context information to a customer in order to better inform them about various events. The context information may be related to a predetermined event, such as a self-checkout process or an emergency event, and is enhanced using the personal preferences of the customer using the SCO terminal.

Point-of-sale (POS) operation system

A Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) enabled Self-Checkout (SCO) station includes an RF antenna that emits RF energy, such as RFID interrogation signals, through the variable apertures of one or more aperture layers into a scan zone. Systems and methods of object classification at point of sale are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a method is performed by a POS system having processing circuitry operationally coupled to a transducer operable to radiate a pressure wave and a sensor operable to sense a pressure wave. Further, the transducer and the sensor are positioned on or about the POS system so that a field of radiation of the transducer and a field of detection of the sensor are directed towards a certain region of the POS system. The method includes receiving, from the sensor, a reflected signal that represents a pressure wave radiated by the transducer that is reflected from a surface of an object when in or about the certain region of the POS system so that the object can be classified as at least one of a set of object types based on the reflected signal.

Object classification at point of sale

Systems and methods of expanding a bagging system are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a method is performed by a bagging station device configured to couple to a terminal station device. The bagging station device includes an outer expandable frame, an inner expandable frame having an inner movable mechanism coupled between first and second inner frame portions, first and second panels disposed on the corresponding first and second inner frame portions, and a set of load sensors coupled between the inner and outer expandable frames. The method includes sending, by each load sensor, to the terminal station device, a measurement of a load associated with one or more objects placed on a surface of the first or second panel. The inner moveable mechanism is configured to enable the first or second panel to move along a longitudinal plane of the inner expandable frame.

Embodiments herein describe connecting a customer in a retail store with an expert. In one example, this connection is made using a shelf IO device. Using a product ID provided by the shelf IO device, a computing system can identify an expert and determine whether they are available to help the customer. For example, the system may identify an expert that is currently in the same store as the customer, or the expert may be available to conduct a phone conversation or teleconference using the customer's mobile phone.

The present disclosure describes a system (e.g., a self-checkout system) that includes a modifiable cabinet. The self-checkout system includes a cabinet, a scanner, a sleeve, and a panel. The cabinet includes a front side and a back side opposite the front side. The scanner is positioned on the cabinet. The scanner scans an item during checkout. The sleeve is positioned within the cabinet. The sleeve moves away from the front side of the cabinet and out the back side of the cabinet. The sleeve defines a chamber. The panel is positioned within the chamber. When the sleeve is moved away from the front side of the cabinet and out the back side of the cabinet, the panel folds down to create a shelf within the chamber.

The present disclosure provides a system and method for identifying items. The method includes scanning a first item using a first barcode scanner and a second barcode scanner and determining, based on signals from the first barcode scanner and the second barcode scanner, a first two-dimensional light grid indicating where the first item broke beams of the first barcode scanner and the second barcode scanner. The method also includes predicting, using a machine learning model and based on the first two-dimensional light grid, a first category for the first item, receiving, from a camera, an image of the first item, and comparing the image of the first item to a first set of images assigned to the first category to determine an identity of the first item.

The present disclosure provides improved methods for generating, by a computing device, graphical elements on a display. The computing device, comprising at least part of one or more graphical elements, identifies an obstructed portion of a display that is blocked by the object. The computing device identifies an unobstructed portion of the display that is not blocked by an object and arranges one or more graphical elements from the obstructed portion to the unobstructed portion of the display.

Responsive display

Pay stations in a retail store initiate customer transactions for customers. When a first pay station is unable to complete a customer transaction, it hands the transaction off to a second pay station that is able to complete the transaction. During hand off, the first pay station determines a first set of biometric and contextual data associated with the customers and sends that information to the second pay station. The second pay station then determines, independently, a second set of biometric and contextual data associated with the customers and compares it against the first set. Depending on the results of the comparison, customers are either granted or denied access at the second pay station to complete the transaction. Additionally, all biometric and contextual data are permanently destroyed without being saved to memory.

Real-time bio-metric / environmental capture and timed rematch

Systems and methods of automatically switching measurement information processing modes related to a self-checkout kiosk. In one exemplary embodiment, a method is performed by an electronic device that includes processing circuitry. The method may include detecting, using object recognition, at least one object present in real-time captured imagery. The method may further include, responsive to detecting the at least one object present in the real-time captured imagery, switching measurement information processing modes from a first measurement information processing mode to a second measurement information processing mode.
