A miniature solenoid valve including a housing defining an axial passage with a valve seat formed integral with the housing and including a minute flow orifice in fluidic communication with the axial passage. A magnetic actuator is positioned within the axial passage and is adapted for reciprocating movement along an actuation axis. A valve element is engagable with the integrally formed valve seat to substantially prevent flow through the minute flow orifice in response to displacement of the magnetic actuator along the actuation axis. In another embodiment, a connection element is formed integral with the housing and is configured for sealing engagement with a pressurized flow source to supply flow to the flow orifice. In a further embodiment, the housing defines a closed end and an open end, with a pole piece engaged with the valve housing and including a transverse portion covering the open end of the valve housing.

Miniature electrically operated solenoid valve

An encapsulated solenoid assembly including an electronic actuator and an elongate metallic armor tube for receiving an electrical conductor therethrough which is electrically connected to the electronic actuator. The electronic actuator and an end portion of the armor tube are encapsulated within an outer casing of encapsulation material to integrally couple the armor tube with the electronic actuator without the use of additional connection components or complex attachment arrangements. In one embodiment, the armor tube is corrugated to facilitate bending and to aid in maintaining engagement with the encapsulation material. In another embodiment, the electronic actuator includes a magnetic plunger that is displaceable along an actuation axis, with the armor tube extending along a longitudinal axis laterally offset from the actuation axis. In a further embodiment, the electrical conductor extends alongside a substantial length of the electronic actuator so as to become embedded within the outer shell of encapsulation material.

An electrically operated solenoid for controlling a valve mechanism, including a coil assembly, a magnetic armature defining a passage extending therethrough, a pole piece defining a passage extending therethrough generally aligned with the passage in the armature, and an actuator pin having a first portion disposed within the passage in the armature and a second portion extending through the passage in the pole piece for engagement with the valve mechanism. The actuator pin is engaged with the armature such that reciprocating movement of the armature correspondingly displaces the actuator pin to control operation of the valve mechanism. An adjustment screw is threadingly engaged within a threaded portion of the armature passage such that displacement of the adjustment screw correspondingly adjusts a position of the actuator pin relative to the armature along an actuation axis.
